for it is important for us to come together, send and accept the invitation. for walls do provide safe homes, faith provides peaceful family. especially in this burning desert pestilence sowed, save bullets thy only rain salvo starvation save thy plate one's last meal last to go the mind starved of self become stranger lone where voluntary artist began. a soul. to suffer evermore.

my family portrait is a bouguereau.
being ignored sucks. especially when it comes to something you're passionate about. to be outright ignored for some reason, or none, or other; relationships shatter, individuals shatter. once glass dome you see the world through shatters and the tiny bits of glass memory knives lacerate the mind by seeing just a single letter of once or was. and the past bleeds into the present, vice-versa. my body feels drained of blood despite the amount of times i tell myself try to convince myself "i do things for me". creating "music", posting about bands, "art" feels pointless. because i some point in the "content farm" i was harvesting for others. who have much better lands to graze; and that is humbling. warming. freeing, of a burden of how i saw the world. i continued and continue to "create" in the interum i seldom shared out of ego and pride "how others will see me". i found myself drawing little doodles in my free time, writing short songs to throw on top of the pile of napkins colored stained in pen ink and sharpie and markers, to see my desk and computer tidy i started sharing them without thinking. thoughts are clearing and feelings was coming back. my self-esteem was amongst the shards "opinions of the scene" couldn't break what's busted haha! i see bands come and go so fast, labels form and blow apart, distributors promoters zines booking agents photographers/videographers artists merch slingers "influencers" podcasts youtube tik-tok culture holes dug and filled up with cement in a snap of the fingers. quick with the quickness. all because seemingly to me "the juice ain't worth the squeeze" anymore. seasons change flowers wilt die and grow back, who cares no one heard (or wants to hear my record) who cares no one reads my "zine", who cares no one wishes to publish my article, who cares no one hears these mixtapes. they wouldn't have been made otherwise, and what else would i be doing? im thankful to be humbled and "enlightened" by these self-inflicting low points for empathy is at least one seed that becomes sowed from all my crybaby stomping. i dont make a "large scale difference in people's lives", "crucial to the scene" and i dont want to be. that outcast feeling just sucks dude, and a lot of great stuff goes unnoticed and unappreciated, resulting in massive implosion epidemic. and all that bad energy affects "the scene" celebrated as delayed fireworks deforestation of a expensive festival reunion 25 years later. i at least want to fight that; enjoy the moment. its funny because i have bands that like i want to hold on to like gollum so there's that odd cage to break out off too; though its harmless considering "alternative bizarro heart of basement shreiking sleeves counter dawn culture", right?

worrying gets you three places, prison, psyche ward, the grave; typically in that order. its not all bad though, shows you care. maybe just, a little too much.
i want things to be the way it was, pretending to be some omnipotentweather weaving force of nature; not "of" nature but nature itself. nurture. what i hold dear, for it all goes to ruin; every single time. i can wear the masks, craft them, meld more if i get tired, bond them together, have them leap and bound to these eerie sonnets of my black crater hollow. echo forever my dear; for your tired of my sullen figure. as am i of me, and me plaguing you. bleak bleading holes of the grand staff so sullen is the shade of this cathedral mourning. revelry saving rising reflections oh light my witness rainbow salvo, angle alleys nothc of heart, sink grey shuddered brick angelic engine piston of a same orphan nameless drowns the mask dawning piston hope grasping bow back wonderous neighborly reds, blues i make the sun and save the yellows for every looking glass slave to doldrum maze streets fawning golden leaps stags sewer smoke clouds memento bottled old dust born new with drawn shot of cork, lost belied whispers of technicolor. wafted with forefathers, misty plains, chimney smog exasperated tobbacco tufts mingle in the train's tale. we be dreams made of smoke. try my best to play in the shadows, for no matter how hard i try im still me. and that's sickening.
as is vanity, for i applaud myself more for "work of art" than being true to the ticker.
hello, currently writing this roughly 6 weeks after emerging from the ER.
[edit: 4 months; currently sept 16 2025 12:28 pm]
how often i forget "art" is expierenced through all senses;
touch
see
smell
taste
and listen...to someone other than the self.
life gets bigger
to be honest im just bummed; on everything. the "state of the world", the "state of the scene",
my life, writing this zine and music is supposed to be fun. life is supposed to be overall "pleasant" with the occasional gale, odd frost and fire; shed to pieces to arrange peace. mother nature...the best parent does anything and everything for their child, even when they don't like it.
these past 6 months, were good and painful. not only cause i'm good thank god.
but i realize how much these "worthless demos" strewn about complete me. connect me. even at my lowest. which is depressing to say the least :)
because considering everything else, and how little it takes to be happy...why all this strife?
in my life, in the scene; in the world...its just one echo; from within.
and just seeing and hearing everything; i just want to make music.
reading the heartattack zine archives just shows me that all this poison is a nasty vicious cycle.
forget everything, how it sounds, the "state of the world", the "state of the scene"; look inside.
at how you feel, and channel that into every breath; cause from what i see, we're not as invincible as we think we are.
speaking to myself. love yourself, you have to learn to love yourself. than you can love others.
than life becomes "pleasant". a true echo from within, through the "scene"; to the "world"; to one.
so im going back to the roots. they are calling me.
i've been writing with pen, learning to write with pencil.
language has confines and consequence.
i can only change me
which i thought was my focus.
i love music
past, present, hopefully future.
i'm going to do everything i can to keep that.
even though this is just essentially a playlist in the smallest corner of this web.
these bands are important, and in a world where everything is chewed up and forgotten.
like lightning
hopefully they pierce at least one far off soul just as lost as me
like lightning
close my eyes
i fought tears
for an audience of one
against a hollow bell
to punches i only hear
it tolls loud and empty
makes me sad i can't see
don't want to see
close my eyes
i fall with tears
to stand-up for myself
to feel every punch
the tolls sing loud
to an audience of one
to punches i want to feel
makes me sad i can't see
you as you
so i'll see one day
me as me
hoping
in the name of "preservation" "archive" indiana jones here
thought about covering cataloging the face cards of this rag-tag outfit
the "bigger" bands
while i do enjoy their music; fratmouse, ben quad, saturdays at your place, the new charmer record is incredible
i have my biases that i wish to stick to, though not like glue.
i'm also not into writing "bad reviews" or about music i don't like (well i do but i don't "publish" them, i think there is value in digesting something that doesn't agree with you, but i'm vain and don't want to come off as a weenie, so i keep it to myself, mostly.)
recently "gossip" not to put it lightly or lump assault and racisim as "gossip"
things we should talk about though personally i feel i have nothing to add; especially about people i don't know. full stop.
so id rather focus elsewhere though two positive ends make a dull battery. good thing this scene is inherently negative.
the dark around the coon's eyes.
forgive me for my scattered words
i wish to keep them unedited as an element of "preservation" ie laziness
helps me look at these past 6 months fondly
thoughts and innundations of existential and philosophical "musings"
wholly "original"
for i'm broken under skin blood and ivory

reading through zines i guess is in a lot of ways, similar to death-scrolling.
surfer-lurker. and an interesting dip into another life, previous versions of the self along with current-past events; spinning the attitudes/ideals to the current day arguably more coherent. though it can definitley scream "drama" and "soap-box rant punk cringe" more times than none, which is a weird dichotomy between the serious eerily relevant tragedies of our world that shadow the ones happening outside (and inside) our window.
everything from spitboy breaking up, european label/distro unities, offshore scenes being past up and starved by momma bird USA -> inner mechanations/hubris of cargo and doghouse records; who offer a look into every hardcore kid's diy "merch flinging op", from the former distributing doghouses' 7"'s collectively growing with fast deals to euro bands that weren't/aren't getting their fair shake (ie. majority of one); how one eventually outgrows the other as "community" becomes the fiendish "beauacracy". garden variety treading the line of "hardcore" and "indie/emo".
heart-warming pen pals, dial-up email groups, college radio stations, faceless strangers to fast family in a few words, a stamp and volumes of resonance through music. with the occasional orange 9mm sucks, ____ isn't true hardcore, im gonna do what i want if you dont like it start your own crap. kent mcclard's a weiner type comments we see about everyone everyday.
one language. one time...
it's basically twitter and reddit in a pot of boiling water, where the boiling is slow, coarse in texture, gives you paper cuts, reaks of ink, takes your change, address with a high-five and flies halfway around the world to metamorph become a battle jacket amber amythest.
in other words and interpretations, fossilized crystal crap. only here we can hold it
and other people have to look at it. :)
yes it is just as bad, mind numbingly horrid.
as i was reading this write-up within heartattack #1, about a space called the beehive within in a college neighborhood of DC, for the surrounding punk community. where seemingly anyone could come and have a spot to be:
-heard
-welcome
-meet like minded people
-feel comfortable
-safe
-free of judgement
where in the outside world; "real world". by extension of how our world "progressed"; society painted bulls-eyes on their backs, our backs.
like me and you, presumably anyone within this thing has this idea more or less, to varying degrees of "couldn't care" to "evangelist" of what "punk means to them", and how they would wish for it to be; while actively looking for ways to make that the "reality".
which while i was reading i was like yup, cool i feel that. as the dialogue stream trickles further from the spring, really not evolving past vague gestures to where they think or we think the punk community could/would be better; especially how to get there.
it starts to get a lttle, for lack of a better way to phrase it and sounding like a bigot, it gets tireing. very quickly.
mostly due to contradictions, self and otherwise. and irony.
on our part as "members of this community" we don't treat each other in that regard while expecting to be treated so and more.
and pretty soon, our "collective" vision drifts into the air and fades into hopelessly impossible. until the approaching storm brings the painful rain again.
its rather odd, especially when we consider most people who are into punk and hardcore, want to be involved and hold some sort of 'influence" in one way or another. (i use the term influence as ---> playing in bands, booking shows, running labels/distros, venues/halls/basements/squats/spaces, recording/editing/mixing, merch, zines, management, front of house etc.
i.e. another person looking to be a flag pole for their version of punk
or a person who feels that a portion of or the community as a whole, needs to be more radical in pursuit of "better ideals" for certain marginalized demographics within the scene.
which again is what sets our world apart from "theirs"; we create the space through hard work. so its not taken for granted, because it's truely made and exsists through "us". especially vitally those who don the back-handed tag "just goes to shows". implying some sort of hierarchy despite the preaching otherwise.
though reading this 30 year old document...and with hindsight...
it's a dirty taste from all this schoolyard talk
kicking up the diamond with no one at bat.
is it better? i can only say "i think so" since i wasn't there. from what i "hear" from bands active during that time and from various interviews, write-ups, blog posts, podcasts, (my own assumptions) people who sweated through integrity crew-necks moshed through broken floor boards and glass in literally holes in the ground/wall while fighting nazi-skins
wringing hands above heads crying screaming your lungs a missle into the backs of
take off your shoes for this is sacred ground.
''''''''mix 3 - how often i forget art is expierenced through all senses, touch, see, smell, taste... and listen, to someone other than yourself.

the story i want to believe is a truth i want to be. and never is. i never felt so free. so weak. so alone, for i seldem have what you want, just as you have everything i need.
we make the end paradise
and everything else mindless suffering to get there
when it comes sooner than we think we cry
expecting celebration?
joy?
why would a soul ever want joy to end?
only begin.
anxiety is the prescence the belief in a power that is destined to change something, often held within. whether that belief or power is true, foolish, is up to that cursed one. for everything must change. become? is the dream and nightmare. the fall of man.
its easy to take for granted how many people "like this music" now,
im taking back most of everything i said regarding zines, im drowning in various puddles, tear drops, lakes, streams (blood), oceans tidal trauma and the parallel meridian to compass heart is a sharp sharp riposte, crippling my corpse, onset a mossy knoll spire of decrepit decay to the sure stumbling steps of our forever first shore line. what you see is what you get, and you got what i neeeed. mmmh mm mm just a friend.
today is friday july 18th 2025
i spent my morning listening to a pile of demos, eps and lps of the "current underground" the "real underground" subversion of the subverted purported "mainstream underground" acts filling venues and theater's at your chosen summer punk/hardcore nostalgia emo smorsgard bank draining fest. (its hard not to come off as an annoying do nothing black heart cynic...or cringy)
i was also reading through heart attack zine issue 3 (fall 94') paroosing the ads, columns, letters, commentary and getting in the mind of these "like-mindeds". when time coalesced.
before i started reading old mags i came across an ai generated "music project". tauting 100 songs; 10 volumes of 10 "carefully constructed" with 1 set of lyrics in a myrriad of "hot submervisive styles and genres" such as post-emo, hyperpop, industrial trip-hop smoothie.. what is post-emo? other than another meme inside-joke marketing term that number 1 hot band uses to poke fun at our (my) stuffy obsessiveness in senseless-classification and resulting neutering of super niche music "we all enjoy". that band is not my hardcore is the undieing hallmark of generational love, jaded-ness and encompassing meaningless (subjectivity) that is "our underground subculture".
(as an answer to the "post-emo" question i guess one can say that "emo" or "post-hardcore" or "proto-screamo" west coast later san diego scene bands taking the dc rev summer amorphous bunch. idk indian summer, heroin, still life, antioch arrow, angel hair, merel, honeywell, clikitat ikatowi..hoover, lincoln in the east...yada yada...side show; since "emo" is short for "emotional hardcore" and coined as a depricating sword to divide the hardcore scene into "2 distinct halves; A. tough hard real violent hardcore and B. introspective inward forward thinking theologies/critiques of our scene, the lives in it and consequently larger world namely senseless violence, bigotry, sexism, anti-semitism and racism sit on ground core".(people get tired of mosh discourse while a whole genre of music was created out of it) "post-hardcore" being after "hardcore" if life is a vaccuum and a shelf. than rites of spring, one last wish, moss icon, fugazi, quicksand, dag nasty(i ain't calling them emo though sonically its hairline comes down to message and scene lyrics how they conduct themselves), soul side(similar though not as close), swiz(not as close as soul side more squarely hardcore), bands such as these can be technically "post-hardcore" and "emo". as well as all the above mentioned bands. drive like jehu call them "post-hardcore" or "emo" don't matter what's that sound like? what about beefeater? the hated? native nod? burn?(that's a stretch) i can't mosh to this. just cause something is "annoyingly odd duck out of the ordinary" they're "post-hardcore" or "emo". the answer is YES, because "emo" was an insult first, "post-hardcore" being more of an acceptable earned distinction with the phrase "i liked them better when they were hardcore" at its heels..
this is all silly conjecture of a thing i enjoy in hindsight of a time where bands didn't and still don't largely care about this "classification excercise"; post-emo to me would be like until like idk when more bands started to love slint and got tired of collapasing "spazzing to sass". SDRE, i hate myself, inkwell, franklin, boys life, william martyr 17, christopher robin. the more indie stuff the promise ring, texas is the reason, jimmy eat world, 100 words for snow, vitreous humor, crank records stuff idk.
again i digress, basically when i came across this ai project that literally sounded like a band i came across a few nights ago, and reading the descrption had me thinking; is our world even "subversive"? is anything? when things are made "products" our very lives laid out for mass consumption and the most amount of nameless pair of eyes possible, at our discresion or otherwise? where the world and even the artist largely are only concerned with seemingly "is it good?" so they can re-post it for like farms and advertisers can get there cent clicks and compression socks to the aether. as the sun covers day. message (if any), sentiment, relation, in this case especially lyrics (1 set of japanese lyrics....100 songs) doesn't matter today, seemingly. art its self is a backseat, for ceo advertiser. it is now "cool sounding weeb anime hype fodder music for us american cows".
(continuing from july 21, 2025)
upon continual "research" ie up in the wee dim dawn waiting on the world with nothing to do;there's is a searing sunburn amongst kin, the notion of "stolen identity". as a result of the bottling of subcultural speciman nirvana gaggling "grunge" acts having stories written for them (rewritten) in the name of underdog american dreams no different than the tech start up or the crazed miner's flight to a gold heart attack on the enduring ancestral feather now emblematic as protypal ripped jeans, plaid flannel and a pair of chuck taylors. which shoe is aware of the tombstones? or the child labor laws outside of the eagle nest? (or rather unaware). a fulfilling beautiful life with allthe meaning in the universe colored as un-ending suffering simply by standing next to the car and underwear ads under the truely meaningless sentences and headline touting vampyric "pastiche" "rizz" suits stitched by cyphoned soul threads of the hot new fad of this gneration. "unhappy husks kicked around with nothing (left) to offer look to mtv, spin, rolling stone, time magazine; media outlets who've since the advent of america = rock music always covered the burgeoning creative innovative imaginative passoinate defying entrepunerial stomping grounds "underground" through coverage of the clever minds of young progressive bands captain beefheart and events such as woodstock" "documenting what's cool since the beginning". painting youth as helpless hopeless nostalgic unoriginal zombies who have to look the distant ancestral business owner for a happy ending, for a family wife house fast car muscles and cool watch. nice dress slender slim submissive porecelain frame bending plyable ilent spine to barborous fantasy of mankind...greed. desire. capitalism is a system. capital arbitrary. as more plaid shirts body snatch our purposeful nakedness, we struggle and strugggle to find ourselves (truely and again). confusion is normal lack of understanding with little patience; takes many forms and always starts and ends with a backlit quarrel. and within a subculture known for...quarrels... (stereotypical stereo haunts stained glass eye-balls the greyscale sunset burning, shattered echo halo freeway where beings ignite to a soul frequency and tears resonate on doomsayer channels soaring to the many ends demise twirlled locks strangling each finger; we hammer gold rings. with broken bones, bare fist and chained minds, solidifying death signatures belies a snowy plain freezing blood to puncture, dreams are breathed delicate red glass, living reflections millions one manifold angel). the community really takes a hit, literally. {}
the world is as big and bad as you make it
i heard (read) some compelling arguments/points regarding music discovery; in the favor of the death of "influencer" type media, and i guess personas/personalities/algorhythm caterers especially in this day and age, where everything is here for the picking; whether or not its ripe is up to the one filling the basket/headphones. how it should be, for discovering music is entirely about "the hunt", your hunt. as you learn more about the music you're diving through as well as about your music "taste". you're being forced to go through piles and piles of records you're not going to entirely like (if not at all) untill you come across one that hits you and knocks all your teeth out. then you hold on to that record with you're new toothless grin as a gold medal of a generation. and an growing appreciaition for the genre scene "music as a whole".
its a completley fair case on the matter that im in favor of; why have a "zine" in this technomancer era when we all can scour the same ocean and not have a biased "algorhythm disconnected master hand" give you a slew of bands/artists that are "catered personally to your listening habits"??
well:
1. it's easy/we lazy. one-click on reccomended band you're probably going to like, boom you have a new band you like. i ain't got time for that.
2. the "zine" (or podcast, playlist, youtube channel, radio show, ig/tik tok meme page, twitter/x troll account "truth social" doo doo ka ka etc. etc.) is a paint brush and canvas for creativity in a thing i enjoy, and like "real art" or a "photograph" is a time capsule of who what when why and how wrapped in layers of memories i now take for granted and hopefully look back at appreciating everything and everyone. as i force myself to "work" as i "got time for that".
yes you bet! everything in this rag-mag honestly a disjointed journal goes through a bias, my bias because im a person who loves park ranger barkwood, and ape up! (by extention ai algorhythms have bias since they are made and modeled after the "ideal capitalist model american".) funny thing is you and i both know there's no money in basement sweaty jam-slam music screaming about the superbowl.
get your peg-leg, eye-patch and parent's laptop and idk look through bandcamp. read thank-you's of records you like. go to sophie's floorboard. last.fm rate your music.com idk ask the kind scholar in cowboy boots and an underdog shirt about supertouch. my problem is always laying out things in a format that's accesible, but i genuinely think the best way is to just dive in and hold your breath and swim. than get out before you drown, dive back in tomorrow. unless you grow gills happens to the lot of us im afraid. just let me know when you start a band/distro/label or whatever. ;)
i have hard time with hypocrits
i tripped over my exposed root
and ate a bowl of dirt for breakfest
life's knots haven't been staining just my jeans
as i have been nothing but
as i have been "advocating" anything but
the truth will set you free
and i have been in chains
for a millenia
strung to past lives that dare
and stare
at the truth sitting in my lap
as i have been passing it between my hands
left than right
right than left
good bad bad good
unknown knowing
you know that scares me
i know
as im shaking
making song after song
for the truth to take it
to those in deeper darkness
thicker chains
truth wants me to take it
and run
as it permeated my being
and now my family
hypocrites
chain link are creating words
in a sacrifice of bloodied cypher
decryption of a bounded mind
as the songs i sing no longer carry me
the future collided with the past
again
left to sort through the parts
oddly warm blame seeps out
as im able to turn my wrists
as im able to smile \
just for a bit
just untill the next one
as the same dose of petty venom
now leaves me paralyzed
gasping
forevever for a memory
as i can't sort through the parts
anymore
i can't see the future
i don't want to see the past
i don't want to see the present
as this odd warmth seeps out
as action seldom follows word
all those words
words words
apologies
threats
greetings
goodbyes
as im left to gasp
as im left to truth
as im left to grasp
as im left with nothing
in the way
to build
something for myself
a present
as the truth is charity
to those open
with odd warmth seeping out
as im left to chose
i leave you
i called it "abandoning"
"forsaking"
"wasting"
"impatience"

seems
"to do nothing"

los crudos and the merits of positivity, diversity and being a good band (interview in HaC2): reflection
with the right energy behind something; the impossible becomes possible. time bends to the mind, matter to the hand; stone to the heart. and us humans are known to get behind anything and everything. from a to z pulses, sentience and lack there of. bands/musicians/artists/ "influencers" who by the "grace" of eyes, bodies and money the arbitrary value of a million manifested in a shepard and their sheep; leads them to pasture. benefit shows, ponzei schemes, fraud, stocking food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, clothing drives, funding and building, youth programs, disaster relief, education programs, spaces and places for our niche community (to the community at large) to voice injustice with the max possible dice rolls for open ears and minds, rubbing greasy paws all hoping to change someone/something "for the better" the little seeds in our little world and by proxy/extention...our bigger world we all collectively nurture and neuter under the guise of the two-faced chartible word "care". for often we overlook the fountain; budding blue I the capital abused and beaten to boque you.
truely, the fountain will never be filled, "complete the vision" like the church "art" and even the "perfection renaissance berry smeared across inside-out bovine". matthew's infinite stranded relay empty around the hearth of man. filled though with a font of energy defeating all foes and will with a single stroke. los crudos can easily paint the whole picture of how far gone the world is and by today's "standard" you don't even have to open your door. though the band (consequently us sheep) has the burning immolating undying narcissistic thumb in nose tongue flailing punk spirit reigned by the ressurection chains of redemption forged in eden day apple seed surnames pessmism and nihilism; where our ancestors bled a thousand times for rightousness to be met with drugs, alchohol and a trimmed wick, "the fall that conceived hardcore" (and i guess post-punk too label savvy entreapuners we are). today we bleed once and are somehow burned through every waking hour, a miracle indeed. though do we truely feel it? los crudos proved otherwise, with the same diy embers igniting themselves into a blazing lighthouse of hope; standing and spitting in the face of defeat. even when it was "uncool". even when the journey never ends... los crudos is a reminder to embrace the journey. for as surmised and preached and danced in the sonnets, hymns, omens, songs, books, scrolls, caves, tombs, wood, water, air, space...by people/beings the wiser and knowledgeable and skilled as well as perceived bumbling bungling lowlives (us). hope and hate are the ties that bind. one sigil changes the self; the other those around it...one is quicker, the other lasting. such is the silent kin, positivity; moving mountains. resolute despite appearance. a noble friend. tears the fountain...always last...because they care. always forgotten...for they are always apart of even the smallest wonder. being a "small band"nestled within a "small unknown town" is all it takes. you think you already know everyone as well as the skeletal layout of the overgrown barely trodden paths and streets though think again. you become intwined, such is destiny. once a show at a birthday becomes an outcry for the Zapatista movement. a call for peace, freedom and unity in blood bath Gaza. lines are drawn into shapes anew as you learned to listen and reason (hopefully). bridging struggle to a collective jaw-dropping heart and nothing but, where the back is not bent, standing not solitairy, and burden a cascade of every good thing, surprisingly not taken for granted in hindsight. for "community" began, around mental health discussions, book clubs, kickball tournaments, bbq outings, litter collecting, art installments, memorials and awareness, to those in need and to those who gave everything. everyone is a "community" as much as i dislike the term; and these "gatherings" are important, as much as i dislike bbq. though if a seemingly "meaningless" "nil" group of kids making noise after school on hand-me-down instruments can bring 3 people to their garage and have a good time, that is something powerful and should be cherished. though for los crudos, you would be a fool and ignorant to a greater responsibility in using your talents for a "greater good"; this thing is a "movement" with endless possibility in realizing the person (and hopefully a world) you wish to be.
though there is no debate in the sanctity and importance of getting together and having a great show; charity is not a competition. i think we all agree on that. just dont close yourself off to possibility; positivity and openness. because "the scene" is much more negative than we perceive, if you let it be. and i could rant for hours and hours, from scene drama and skramz metalcore myspace kids destroying venues juiced up on OBW and love lost but not forgotten, jerome's dream, orchid, usurp synapse and iwrotehaikustealyourbandnameflowerstappedtomypeninsteadcuziwroteitnotu tik-tok vampires sucking the literal life of originality and the decline in emorevival twinkle riffs for popularity and clicks with the further bastardization of midwest-emo. where the term emo itself is now a catch all for the younger generation = any music with loud guitar and "poor singing". dont go down the road its not worth losing your soul, over a term. mark the trail at least.

i get smacked with this question more times than there are dots on a map. depending on where you reside, physically, mentally. if your presence is felt, lonely is the blade of grass in the plains of darby. with everything lately this three-lettered legged friend comes bundled; deal of the century. millenia. lot to unpack from the tired bag ill do my best i want to be quick and therefore not efficient; that's where i am right now hopefully the point comes across a glint in the eye thumb to the sky, generally something follows, lately big stink doodey. duty duty duty. ten hut. reading these long, prolific epigraphs and biographies of bands of today and yester-year, whose names would only catch one in a thousand's ear is rather peculiar. at first glance i suppose because naturally shows where the heart is, most often open and soar; seemingly considering the state of "the scene". when all of this is blended together churned-in churned-out 20 times the amount our names are shouted through walls of sunken concrete and flesh; with only ten digits of recognizable faces in a sea of masks and tuffted parrots and puppets, gets tired. the heart aches more, despite how much i tell myself "i do this for me." get something out that can't be relayed in words, process thought more so feeling, vibration on the same wave length of the room through the universe. it just gets tired. people working multiple jobs, juggling families, friends, school, college, raquet ball, volunteering at the shelter, adopting a highway and playing in 3 other bands including yours; which plays to the same 3 people every time, while releasing solo material on top is just insanely mind-boggling. to an audience of naught, seemingly; reading through all these magic sorceries comes off as a self serrated euology. it's not a lot of work or a problem until the finger is shoved to our nose, forced to stop in some way. i guess im just finding myuself with a little more free time, time someone else would love to have; which also is tireing. guess something has to change also, i can point the finger also to all these bands, "the scene", but im the one with the "extra free time" so maybe i should change. things might not be so tired i suppose; until i read this back. so im not proofreading anymore hehe. or asking for permission. even then i somehow step on someone's foot, apologies. i got big shoes; that can be filled or better tossed away for something far better in a moment's notice; lot of bands out there. spark to the dry sprig my mind and soul, guess body too though i ain't lifting ;). gratitude wakes the nightmare. but the bed is cozy. you'd think sleep trained me to close my eyes to the cold world and jump through the warm clouds.

punk/hardcore/emo "scene" isn't unique; comments on nyc "rave" scene.
on the word "emo" chris leo of native nod and the van pelt (paraphrased) "i would rather be known as an emo band/emotional hardcore band than how the one person who happens to remember my band standing out from the other "emotional" bands at the time due to a unique "dryness" in expression. i would rather be part of a niche community of mostly my friends and peers who remember my band once in a blue moon than the 1000th release on homestead records labeled as "another indie band lost in time"; or had one record on saddle creek or sub pop.
handel and haydn aren't too far off of midwest emo. counterpoint proteges we are who are quite fond of the "devil's third"
a meme page is today's zine, why do we "read" them? why do we visit our grandparents or friends? birthdays and anniversaries can feel like a chore, hanging out can feel like a chore. holidays--->represses----->family outings----->discographies and compilations------>you need a floor to walk on and most often we leave our shoes on; disrespecting hallow ground. though i fear dirt, grime; dust. one and done fire-eating tumbleweeds spewing the heart of worlds over brimstone cracked ten-fold concrete founded on one direction of branded dreams lofted on sacred scars, as numerous as the sands of the shore, who bloom in a sacrificial dance as the moss mountain of wonder and shade to the upright fish of empty seas.
history is informed by our perspective; our own biases. that is why life (the band) to me is taking inspiration from mineral, sdre and the used; to someone else E!E!, joie de vivre, annabel and transit; to someone else awakebutstillinbed, charmer, and macseal; to someone else afi, duster and vs. self; to someone else who loves my chemical romance and texas is the reason guess what it sounds like; it's all valid.. how can something entirely defined by the moment be "captured" caged and tortured to inform a future generation going through the exact same cycle "at this moment"? time is no flat circle as they say, or is it? when the past is often "rewritten" with genre lines being erased and drawn every six months.
you guys take library books into the john?

if you're like me and spend nearly all your waking hours "honing your craft", you're a fool. buying missles stocking the meme AI war; we're fools for "joining the defense force" for even thinking of opposing, for even thinking we have a choice. there's a whole "music genre" being pumped through our lcd screen internet feeding tubes, the next grand starship enterprise of a generation rebellion music soundscape adventerers built by our brains and "binary" digit hands of "nonbinary" passionate sin bags. kill that way of thinking, kill the mind stop the madness that is our madness, foundation acursed the skyscrapes scrape and scrape; samples of 2000s pop, peter griffin, back street boys, nsync, memes, pepe kermit the frog rap battles glued together with synths and drum machines 808 eternal broken clock is right so long as flesh feeds the generator. an endless ocean of spit from the gothboiclique diciples; and noah is left standing. for in his given wisedom, music is deemed a meme (and has always been), a passing expansion and decompression of the lung, invisible lest you learned to look and felt only when you cough or choke consuming something else. why chew? why swallow? why set the heart ablaze in hephasustus flame only to be speedily squelched by hey there delilah trap beats lo-fi hums of clerks, donnie darko, regular show, freaks and geeks quips of an american football/capn' jazz/algernon cadwallader/snowing/merchant ships rip off riff xbox 360 nintendo ps2 start screen packaged as "nostalgia" yearbookhaikucannibalsweare..tis the same question that plagues existence... we're dust in the wind man. noah says,"don't take it so seriously dude." which is the see-saw i forever wander as i age..for it is punk music whether i like it or not, and id be lieing if i said i didn't smile and laugh consuming liljerryspringer; maybe thats what we need the most right now. of course time in the sun is ever limited, and limits birth mighty, strange and foreboding monstrosities.
if you're cynical like me you can unneccesarrily stretch this wasting time into parallels of veganism/animal rights, war and genocide let's get topical protesting in general why protest? because maybe doing something isn't just for "the greater good" but the greater you. you want to take your music off spotify for funding "war" "genocide" "AI" absolutely do it, stand by what you believe in, does spotify care? will spotify go bankrupt over a handful of niche underground bands ditiching the platform while our "tax dollars dunds the same thing(practically)" i can only assume, no; but you should feel empowered by the decision right? you should! as its inspirational(to me at least)! again, stand by what you believe in! imagination and something to live and fight for is happiness, it could even be like a mini-fridge or something. and i wonder why im depressed. so if you're bummed at AI taking your seat at the table... don't take it so seriously? as harsh as that sounds (especially the middle east situtation right now/russia ukraine/turkey syria/haiti/yemen/congo...) the world (tragedy) doesn't stop, don't let them make yourself sick; take care of yourself stay strong and fight for you (them). (this is all for me im not interested in playing hardcore punk emo scene cop)
look all im saying is that don't lose your head over AI there's a 10-year old plugging your riff into the matrix along with crash bandicoot L7 and amanda bynes.
the soundclip is now more important than the actual song.
it's punk music, we're old dude. gothboiclique dicipiles.
good thing is these mixtapes might bring back albums
i dont want to be alone with my thoughts,
spent another day with family "catching up" (commiserating) granted what was said was warranted and prefaced with "im not complaining but..." it just feels disgusting. i think i can speak for the rest that we want to be happy in this life; so let's do that?
anyone else enjoy making/writing music and not wanting to listen to it afterward, like at all. or standing at shows leaning against the wall like, "ya, i get it.." though yesterday i was at an outside gig midday listening to "emotional fast indie-core" being scrambled to an audience who seemed to not to care what they're tasting; we just want a good time and a smile. those at least were genuine and welcome without question. bands were great just the odd awkward banter of young bands, relateable. music was great. not relateable.
hac 2 and the importance of criticisim/true dialogue "we're bought and sold"
-open mind dialogue criticism
-open self importance of finding and being yourself expressing heart soul mind and wha tyou stand for
-censorship, adverts (propaganda) and crass, importance of diy
-how society paints in black and white and subcultures such as punk reveal life to be in greyscale using examples of sexuality, language art and music, karin's column about the crass hand poster revealing howe we become sensitized to recurring images/ideals brainwashing ie women having to be rail thin and stay at home the "ideal woman" busses and bilboards kate moss ads calvin klein playboy etc. same with man. go to work come home watch tv eat dinner rinse repeat have big pecs and biceps nice car equals hot girls lots of money equals lots of friends and hot girls etc. to rally against that by finding self in punk and expressing that.
-chasing trends and the death of culture

widowdusk called it, from their news column edited "statement"; its a different vibe ie not fun/enjoyable anymore. we want to do something else... with the affirmation for oldheads' respect nod; hxc/screamo/skramz/whatever is "for the youth"...they are 21...the "scene" is changing so fast now and with contemporary bands going on to "bigger pastures" febuary vs self;, or just plain donezo; kiowa,onewaymirror,catalyst...(not done but changed), we can go on and on. the exponential influx of early aughts metalcore infused skramz/screamo taking over. "sound trends" only last like half decade it seems (plus the cieling is not even head high for most bands of the genre, kinda have to squat or crawl to get through the room comfortably; there's only so much you can do creative and otherwise depending on how receptive people are and the attention around the thing, its easy for anything to get ruined and misconstrued. or rather your "lifespan" as a "fresh band" is barely half a decade if you're lucky. question is, are these bands going to be eternally "ordained" into the very subject exact emo lexicon? are we going to see tapes, stickers and pit-stain tees on ebay and depop for half a grand? the younger generation votes with their wallet, panic chords and shadows fall/all that remains/killswitch engage/bullet for my valentine skramz bands...bring me the horizon, escape the fate, asking alexandria, trivium core.
or are tik-tok kids just ruining everything, your biased "only im right" call :)
considering my neck of the woods, long island; where the scene is a bunch of islands with unique inhabitants, obscure languages, dress and customs...even cuisine. of all matter of sizes that are "always doing it for the scene" how ever it is defined by the island nation-state. who come together at least once a year thanks to the hardcore ocean whirlpoool that churns these islands like the planets around the sun. only the sun is silent majority. and we're all moths to the flame. or mosquitos in the one scene from bugs life going towards "the light" to be zapped into oblivion. ie a hardcore band. or a rave somewhere in williamsburg.
and there i go on my vain soap box. basically hardcore is huge doesn't allow your micro freak-folk disco scene the spaces to grow, and its just way too expensive out here. costs me 40 bucks to get to the city and back for a show thats 15 bucks. adds up quick, regardless if your coming out to my zone too. who wants to lose nearly 50 bucks and time coming out to the burbs to see my capn'jazz emorevival twinkle-core band rip off philly's finest of that era...horibley.
again i digress, look basically. widowdusk in my view, simply not fun anymore bye bye they say. and with the show/basement scene out here in no man's land long island; where there are faces though oddly faceless. it is now down to a force you can count on one hand to book the same bands you can count on one hand for us locals you can count on one hand. yes i have not attended these events, i am the problem. or at least part of. because there are people who are interested in these shows and bands. and if they are like me, they can look a little ehhhh. "forced". though dont judge the book on the cover, which is completley the opposite to how i discovered this world of music in the first place but dont knock the saying. truely dont judge the book at all. i got to close the mouth, go and have a good time. thats it. and theres a dope skate demo with some locals playing this weekend coming out here a few towns over so im stoked. thats the new MO.
the people (at least person) who have been one of the driving forces of "putting on shows" out here called it quits saying that there heart hasn't been in it for some time. which i can relate. dont know if i should feel down about that, because who wants to hate something you dedicate a large part if not your whole life to. we all need breaks from time to time, or all the time to realize how important things (people) are in this life; so i think its just that. especially with the holes in the wall graffiti rent-losing space and basement noise ordinance retirement community neighborhood debbacle, or the cynical "juice wasn't worth the squeeze". mafioso eyyyyy. i jsut hope we're truly thankful for their's and everyone's efforts in organizing and putting on these shows, even opening up their own homes for our bands. that truly is remarkable. and something to keep with you forever. it only takes a little bit to make a friend, a TRUE little bit.
be yourself. talking to myself here. or everywhere rather.
but seriously though, ive never met anyone in widowdusk but they seem like incredible people, i feel that they really care and wear the heart on the sleeve; always wish everyone the best...absolutely no exception to these folks.
i think bands were more "novel" in your day...we should read a book.
as of today the best lesson i learned is that no one owes me anything; for my work, life nothing. that means im free and i don't owe anyone the same. its a shame we taught the world to move our hands and feet and pry our eyes open; avoid imagination :)
saw some discourse on "trending bands" and "sounds" as well as "forecasts" of what sounds/genre archetypes will be coming over the horizon, yonder and above. thought i contribute and comment to the storm of nothingness with my own nothingness that collectively makes this circle that much bigger and endless. its called fire and devastates forests and families, especially when you think you can contain it.

upon watching a yt vid joey pulled up; an artist from bristol named anthony; by the will of god is turning 100 at the time and he'd been painting for practically his whole life. there was a younger artist as well and they were making portraits of one another discussing their perspectives/how they look at things. the younger artist relays painting as a sort of on going present process of thinking/understanding, nothing static; offering a different vision in real time that is necessary to see fit is what i got, not only for yourself but for others; even the artist admits how pretentious that sounds. though he has a quote in this video something a long the lines of; painting or making "art" "life" there is a key and vital aspect of letting go; relinquishing control of the outcome; the "end", as if we have power of that at all. focus on how you feel and let that line sketch what you wish to express in harmony, not discord. i feel like i've been living in discord, i need to relinquish my idea of what life is, of who i am and the world around me.

i soley encounter the number of the beast on social media; lest its the most apparent. how often i miss your grace, father?
forgive me for my scattered words and thoughts and innundation of existential/philosophical "musings", wholly "original". for im broken and just like you.
the band/musician/artist life; and the "demo maelstorm"draw an "x" and people make the treasure, legend and adventure. is life that bleak? is music now just something to click on over this spider web? this piece of "art" pain-stakingly made constructed and de-constructted under the guiding zenith of vision and perspective, zigarots, pyramids, just ruins; for selfies, reposts and maybe a tape run 6 months. perhaps it goes more than that, we wake up, do the same thing for 40 years, learn to ride a horse, move to florida, golf with a funny sweater on, dance to a bee gee's cover band every night than die. or by my time a turnstile cover band.
its an experiment! this is life! here's your breakfast time for work. and all days blend to one until you come across something you care about; a shame we only got room for seven.
its a shame we care too much

reflections on skateboarding:
-less youths getting into skating
-is the level of talent ailenating skateboarding's next generation?
(along with cost of boards etc., even vibe its a very serious vibe now, whereas in the past skating was just something you did with your homies.)
it has been just over half a year of me sprinting after my mind. rain drops, rain drops; torrents, dedication. sower hears a smile begger sees the miles. grey clouds, lower; ink. first impression. marks the echo of my reflection, signs these arrows of existence. i could forget, i can; even wished. though they fly, headlong; dead-straight, the pain of existence. it has been just over a month dancing through the quills and songs, rain drops, rain drops, undisturbed on my window. i fell, finally; though i've been falling, had to skin the knees to acknowledge each pebble, arrow, sowing. into me; 26, spellings of a better day. it could forget, it can, even wished, though they stayed, spelling and spelling my name. here i am, listening, to the coming thunder, that i know now is heart; pain is life burning, though i didn't know it at the start, first impressions, are hard to break; untill you break first. and allow the burning to warm, a life worth living.
i still make "art" pulling it out of the hands of judgement and vanity, i want to be free to make a mess, and fly over the moon. heart, soul and mind need an image, and yes that requires pulling; screaming, wars, fire...forgetting, evolution; though not too much, and never all ways, nor always. for a view is appreciated when you turn your head.
act as if you received... (father's word through his annointed, i dont remember who sorry)
parades are fun though never join blindly
i spent the morning today reading heartattack issue 2; specifically a little "tiff" "debate" between kent, author extradoinaire of the zine/owner of ebulition records and distro and chris ("of lookout records fame") so called out in kent's home court. the little disagrement debate sort of brushed off (almost always) as something incredibly insignificant, minuet; is regarding upc codes (barcodes) on records, merchandise and the "pawning" "commodification" of punk, co-opting of the culture and underground, views, messaging by the now main stream music industry, who in the eyes of the "true-grit" don't care and are devaluing what we stand for and are ultimately destroying what we work to build, what we bleed for to get our records made ourselves, recording and creating this music by any means necessary to little to no audience...initially. only for the big major labels and chain stores to take our "product" on face-value or rather what they value, wring it dry over a bucket and walk away with what they want, "profit". gimme big number thank you.
before i begin to parce the age old on-going meaningless conversation of eternity, dust in the hands of socrates, vinyl in the hands of distros, both parties or "sides" agree on one thing, one universal light; that being..."who cares?" a sort of non-chalant wise-guy shrug and smirk that speaks the volumes of our existance..."im going to do what i want anyways".
punk is to die on the mole hill i stake as everest.
im not going to spend too much time on this because i personally feel this is school yard politics; or cafeteria; who sits in the back of the bus type stuff. though we never grow up. then again, im judging and knit-picking teenagers and college kids, i recognize im the minority in terms of age; 30 year old white dude, though today people are discovering punk/hardcore/emo in their 20s. but whatever, "who cares?"
it all comes down to "punk-rock pride".
for chris: what's the point of "having something to say" and not "preaching" it to everyone/thing that has ears? how can you accuse me of "pawning off punk" "selling it to the masses" when you and everyone else in the scene presses vinyl, makes "merchandise" to turn a profit? to make an "alternative" to not just the "music industry" but to western commerce, economice ie "capitalism"?
for kent: "you only care about "money". all you see are numbers, how many gameface records you press and sell, what size room for blink or greenday's show? idk. punk is much more to me than a penny or crisp dollar bill. it opened my mind to others, gave me life long friends and family, taught me how to view the world differently, for "what it is", how the top pulls strings to keep everyone in their place and spoon feeds us to keep everything kosher. thats what punk is, fighitng back against where society wants to place you, keep you as a prisoner. especially if your black, a woman, gay, trans etc. using your tax dollars to fund wars over seas, etc. testing products/medication on animals etc., gerry-mandering, advertising alcholol in those same areas to turn more profit and keep minority populations, the poor, from believing in a better life. punk is what i say, and what i make it; and grows into what we make it, naturally, from one to one bond to one family, we're all here for one reason and thats not fitting in anywhere else because we just don't, they way it is. punk isnt for everyone and everyone doesn't care about us, so why should punk be fore everyone? you're just filling your pocket that's it. i dont know why you're even advertising in my zine if you don't agree with me; thought you were punk. oh wait, all you care about are the "profit margins", more ads, more records sold; doing buisness with anyone huh.
both sides end, "whatever. who cares, im going to do what i want anyways."
end scene.
end of the scene:
more bands
less bookers
noise is music
with the seemingly unsuspecting "deaths" of our top unit via landmine, friendly fire or otherwise; gel, seeyouspacecowboy, roman candle, zulu, now kiowa. blah blah blah, im not here for witch hunts; nor take the wings from Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. im not here to use the suffering of others as a step-stool to spew my garbage to be ultimately reiterated 30 years from now, eating the tail while names and faces change in the fangs of ouroboros. my sincerest condolences and prayers. none of my buisness; you want to help the scene, help yourself. not trying to be harsh and serious, or finger waggy hand-on hip mother-father style.
i didn't get into writing, making sound to dawn the shepard's cloth and crook; cloak and dagger on most torches and streetlights. I wanted to sprint head long, kept my eyes closed anyways, alone, accustomed to it. the pasture is endless that way, pretend i was hokage, real face of stone carved as miser's revelry, the lonely and cold purse housing the sun; bottom-less, juggernaut and the kool-aid man, a thousand journeys as a kurosawa second split, understood the black and white bolt of heart; despite the frame, earth as my emerald now dancing with the sea; churning memory as something new, a kaleidoscope; something exciting to see, and im lucky enough to have 4 more ways to sunday.
and i never feel that way.
community is a loaded term; bullet for the brigand, fear for the hostage. though the more time bleeds out of me in this cave, efforts painting painful murals along these walls. the seasons begin to change as weeks, days , minutes now seconds. cherish becomes a vital word in the lexicon. and the shadows of each cold statue come to life as your only friends and family.
though i could just be depressed.
there's a certain amount of nepotism in thoreau's "waldon", conversly, in henry thoreau. living off the "land" the land being, noted in the introduction of the revised version of the book half a century later, being loosely connected to the estate of his doctor friend. as well as his acquaintances, his neighbors who aided thoreau when needed, and im not criticizing this, anyone is going to need asistance raising your house or cabin. the introduction, written by someone who would call thoreau a friend and knew rather well, also discusses while he did advocate simplicity in life, economy, straightforwardness, he had his "secrets" to living remotely in this time consequently from this point on in his life; and that its up to man to find those "secrets" for themselves, which to me is; your own limitations, needs, meeting them, your economy essentially earning your bread how you wish in the most efficient manner is what he argues is the true virtue of man, and that if you have no inkling of what thoreau means by this rather how to do this for yourself, then you are simply an unfit simpleton, beneath the ideal image of man. though my arguement is thoreau might be a little dismissive or unaware of his "independance" and position in society, especially at this time, where not everyone received a proper education. though i digress because thats quitter defeatist talk to me as someone living today, who i would argue, is probably more "off" than he.
we gamified life and its depressing, someone is going to blame capitialism here in the western world and to that i have no refute but an exhaustive sigh; as that notion tires me since that is our miasma to torn sails and parachutes; birthday balloons achieve dreams on relinquiahed breathes and decay.
has life always been "transactional"? you hunt, you eat.. you kill you live... you plant a seed, you receive grain... you receive grain you receive time...you receive time you build a shelter...you build a shelter you receive rest...you receive rest you get time...you get visitors...you trade you receive...you grow...settlements develop...they grow, with more time on the hands and while settlements grow into our picture of today, its easy to gradually than exponentially lose sight of your growth and development, exponentially your person. is this a game (idk catan, sid meier's civilization, runescape, the sims etc.) sure; life is a game on paper boom easy. capitalism, bang. life is easy? mmmmmmm. with today's society, obviously, with the most time on the hands, and with social media as well as education systems highlighting this sort of social gamefied exchange, likes, follows, reposts...attention and with attention being synonomous with advertising--->capital. seems like more and more we seek this sort of justification subconsciously in having "free time" is bad and that any activity can get you a mansion and these "oppurtunities" should be pursued no matter what, at all costs at all times. free time bad is the anthem of today's fast-paced world. the broker's world, and the world is broken, "passive income". since when do we earn something without getting our hands dirty? ironically our hands are dirty, but in the humbling back breaking labor sense. though we receive life without any expectation... like i said when this sort of expectation of transactional social behavioural systems is paramount as well as build up along with these social systems as well (twitter etc.) it spells death.
thats why this music thing rules, and also is entrenched in the blood and poison, just like everything else. though i can choose to not participate; and that makes me happy. to starve myself.
i spent 12 hours today loosing my mind over writing and finishing this song, according to henry david thoreau, writing should be of the "concsious" rather than of "will" or "vision", in his view the concsious is the most pure, simple and direct form of expression of the self; though the most painful, i need a hobby. like read a book, play switch or something, going on walks helps i gotta do that more,
i encounter the number of the beast in light blue masks and the souls of white letters doomed spelling breathes with telephone wire.
this thing we do, everything, nothing; is meant to be understood. take it, expierance, right in front of you is history, before some removed scholar and patron paint it purple and condense it to a devoid worthless lexicon.

notes on our first day back and the "screamo/skramz scene" seeing yourself in the others shaking hands with ego:
just while i remember, listening to an interview with the guitarist of crochet, peole who got into "the scene" during covid listening to discovering all these bands, sharing songs over discord, live vids of idk king nine, 7 angels 7 plagues, tetsuo, number 12 looks like you, love lost... etc. etc. more obscure more obscure, than earth crisis. in loving memory. picking up instruments in their rooms speaking to self shouting through strings 6 names you were called through bestail timber whistles snow ruffled hide baptized thick in reaped berries cave paints a cape out of night stars before all a mask conquering comandeer shortsighted lightning too busy we are shining our bottle, reminicing when the "world started opening" internet homies meeting up in someone's squat/basement after sharing riff after riff after drum fill and collected poetry from the rains of salvation, true graciousness, appreciation for time "truely bringing us as one" with thy shadow agape leaning on what we built and stand on, merely leaning to spare the effort of running making falling a miracle of flight. where bands were "pure", and not plastered with affliction shirts, new bands every week nye every day some demo was heard around the world as a gunshot for the revolution, a rally all are apart of, hands as one, i have my own thoughts. now the looking glass piereces our horizon and smoke a bi-colored horizontal striped sweater citrus smoke on stove pipe chivalry bow backs vital shade and disguises under tar dark brimmed beanies.
3 short years all is "ruined"; changed (for the better). widowdusk, claybirds, knumears, kiowa, february, ipromisedtheworld formerly sinema, have all become "the victim of "big corp. inc."" (big corp. inc. is defines by, hardcore old heads who built and run these festivals/labels "oppurtuntities" for newer basement screamo skramz blue bloods as well as the more commercialized sonics of hxc inc. / as well as the sage and prophets incorruptible destined sonic sigil, where these cave paintings flirt with shadow spitting renaissance fresco) *for i write as a ego maniac.* this "generation" already feels nostalgic for shows gone by, framing it as a negative with the edge of seperation from the crop of affliction shirts dwelling in "the pit" now and having been "courted" by what is deemed suit and ties, ironically dawning same suit with a ragged application for advanced degrees certificates the matters which are/were thunder to our lightning snaps of whispy fingers. intangible for we let it be, hands are held, together or otherwise with ourselves, a collective mind is petty segmentation of the thread, exploitation. like an ocean reffered basin of "the rain". relief to atlas, "though i create for pathos" tragic hero becomes what heroes hate, evil is sin. sin is humanity, and evil is not human. virality from a virus, plagues by a plague, 6 digit streaming numbers "diy ragtag musketeers" forever mice and rodents of sunkissed streets, the same ones taking and creating lives for this patch to mend the quilt, a quilt needs every patch to be a quilt; and readiness the blade that keeps life from "truley living". for all is greater than how we see ourselves, ego. tough pill to swallow good thing i got 3, meditation mend a seam. great band, does it come a point and "our responsibility" to relate and eagle wing or severe see ya later? does the rising generation have patience to be "talked down to" by senile 3 year older big sister? i fear that at least in the united states, the "scene" is much more segmented carved into these hyper-niches than i thought, argueably worse than cliques of the past. social media makes it seem like a "cohesive swamp" but really if we were in the same room i dont think we'd get past a few sentences. we probably would just stare at our phones and talk about one another behind usernames. thats what we do at shows now anyways.
jaded. our first day back. buses shoot down and through the neighborhoods, backpacks carrying more than this head will ever do; september decay has opened instutions learning has resumed. or rather gauged measured rubric rule habit learning. we're all fortunate enough to be dragged into these buildings considering a time when reading and writing was a delineation of status.. times never change, sat scores, scholarship showdown essays, projects, thesis period after quotation after question you can answer myraids of ways though its not the answer they want and oppurtunity swings the pendulum in our clocks and slams the door shut when i locked in the coveted "last spot" we can go on and on through this ivy maze league pointing to letters on esteemed dean;s list none the less arbitrary than the wind tossed seeds of the pine. another good band. i have some in the family that work in the schools, teacher/student aides, custodial; as they say the first few weeks your schedule changes half a dozen times in the under-staffed faculty cell where the favorites and newcomers are treated like gold, granted their wishes in hours and classroom/teacher dibs while others who have "skin in the game" been there earned their stripes as they say are whipped to pick-up the slack; aides who have been with and worked with a specific classroom or teacher most notably aides who has been working with students who have additional needs educational, health-related and/or otherwise; are ripped out and put elsewhere to appease the "crew" ie those new workers/priveledged who rub the lamp and demand to work in any class but "that" one; or work mornings only stuff like that. so after said person's morning shift, the office goes, "hey _____, i know you only work x amount of hours and you just finished your shift but your needed in ms._____ class untill the end of the day; but it will only be for a little bit we'll find someone to do it." and to no fault of the messenger, they rarely find someone and said aide is now working a full time shift with part time hourly pay and benefits and can't apply to be full time because something along the lines of "we're only hiring part time aides at the moment you can apply for the next school year." as this person says, "who suffers?" "the students". what does this have to do with strictly ballroom? (just naming a band not literally the people in the band just an example of a rad band in our "subsubculture") exploitation! again, no one's fault tis the fault of the system which the system hopes we become bitter grapes and poison each other's wine...by wineing and going at each other's throats. which unfortunately happens, as im here "wasting more time" jotting this down out of spite and vengeance. take the energy and destroy the system in a way we no how. making that avant garde free form noise tv static frequency symphony record. or writing this amalgam of a "zine" which is literally a rant collection of i dont know what though i feel at peace when i spit all over and not hit anyone :) ....intentionally, to that i apologize ;).
i digressed again, basically a friend of my mom's got pulled from her shift to do a harder shift and my mom feels bad because her friend is super nice and has been there works hard doesnt bother no one and the other workers spin the rumor mill as she's been on the receiving end and like i said she feels very bad wants nothing to do with it all. she wishes she could help but my mom cant physically do the work anymore so she's just bummed and it all sucks cause' it feels like you cant do anything.
im not trying to be great im trying to be happy wink
on the feelings and attitudes of "emo", how one becomes attached to a certain niche or sound, to the point where identity is inseperable from one's perception of the culture, a culture in which that has its own many facets definitions expiereances opinions and when these different elements meet in passinate agreeable or disagreeable sparks through the natural discourse of social interaction, one is too often bewildered, offended as a result of a strong attachment of x element to perception of self/identity in the context of not only the culture/subculture but the world as a whole, even the self. we are very nuianced beings. scientific speak where me protractor.
i think it has to do with also how involved we want to be in the "scene", overcoming certain boundaries to entry, self-inflicted and otherwise; with a feeling of imposter syndrome outcast self-conciousness wish i can do more wounds. dawning a green bay jersey in your dead end queens apartment with brett farve plastered across your bedroom wall your "friend at work" waves jets season tickets in your office window insinuating "fake fan" daggers through their green face paint.
i dont think early 80s dc kids first X'd up primarily because "we're edge bro love minor threat". i think the general consensus was "we want to see the bands we're not hear to drink let us in.." as the X evolved from a simple categorization of who can and can't purchase alcohol in the venue/bar. over time and growth kids drew X's on their hands raised and waved the minor threat banner coining the heroes song as a inspiring anthem to a focused sharp lifestyle they can feel apart of and participate despite not physically being in dc. out comes youth of today ct/nyc and so the domino falls evolving sonically in tandem. much like jerseys over hoodies, camo shorts and shell toes.
today its easy to feel like you're apart of something by simply reposting whatever or sharing whatever without really getting your "hands dirty and putting the effort in". as a result i think that feeling of imposter syndrome soars with each generation as a whole. i think its largely a matter of self-perception. because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how other perceives you/ your views of what is and isn't x y or z. there's argueably no "fact" to it. case and point = rival schools, every 10 years they flip between post-hardcore and emo to the will of the majority. its all "harmless conversation" at the end of the day.
i keep making the mistake of trying to have "meaningful" conversations with strangers on the internet.

when there all there is such is the present.
the past hand full of times we went to visit my grandma has been..."unpleasant". my family and i have been going through "a series of unfortunate events" for years now to the point where its our "reluctant" pathway carved through the forest wooded riddles unraveled, where magic mystery is one of our suffering collected hugged as voodoo dolls sewn sharing warmth of each imagination. where the only difference is how we decorate the walls, the color of the living rug this time now, where the car was parked, how fast we were running, premontions...winces confused startled shrieks grunts of bolstered affirmation assurance did all we could all regret guilt juggling convincing time i can juggle if i had more, more of...anything...everything. rendering our eternal flesh into voided skeletons. to "no fault of our own" we had to do this, carve through the forest loss is the journey, one's joy is someone's pain, up and down side to side from and whence towards but not too fast, not so soon, reckless, trust patient pray focus, nothing. skeleton. dug up the same ones everytime we sat down in the library or one of the two side meeting rooms with a table of goodies saying our blessings and cursing those "who wronged me". look at them now... bones kindled dance to sun's flame retribution, learn to walk hot coals. or wear iron boots.
or we "play the game", for how many times we throw the dice avoiding hospital beds and car wrecks? we brought a deck of cards to see grandma today and the skeletons stayed in the crypt, we had fun playing go fish, and i look forward to our next visit. time is money and games stop the clock, to progress...how does life end...
child labor is a dream of stardom painted in youtube videos and tik tok dances; and instead of losing fingers we lose our minds. lost to begin with.
does "music make you emotional" because you see yourself or identity as "emo"? or are you just depressed? (connection between how you see yourself associate yourself identify yourself with certain circles/subcultures/groups and how "music" or the medium of expression affects you. i guess subconciously as well i dont think you necessarily have to be aware of this. another example: the pyre record that came out this year makes me want to run through a brick wall, is this because im a "hardcore kid"? "screamo/skramz whitebelt-sass emoviolent spazz"? or do i have anger management issues and suffer from suppressed violent energy stemming from some sort of trauma?
we in post hardcore mall emo boom i think; thursday, red jumpsuit appartus, funeral for a friend, bayside, mcr, tbs, brand new, blink-182, cursive, death cab for cutie, cute is what we aim for, the starting line, new found glory, fall out boy, midtown, dashboard confessional,
heard some blabber about "credentials of critique". subjective opinions of a thing we love. never here to tell you what to think, how to feel, what to do. who to hate who to love. im not interested in making enemies. i want people and myself to know that everything you ever wanted, needed, is out there; seek seeker make maker. feel feeler. last one sounds strange but you get it.
there's no guidelines to this; you don't have to listen to any record to gain entrance to "the kingdom" nor go through anyone. (so they say) you will get sideways looks (possibley hoisted sideways than shaken upside down for not knowing "obscure" band that means the world to me = twelve hour turn) than taking your lunch money and purchasing our own wars (ironically) though whats up from down but a scenic thief bled out from our collective imagination of the fountain of youth; whether that daggermouth poses saintly snow gold tear mountain peaks or thistle bearded rogue lush hushed seedling serrated blossom secrets? needless to say i know someone who refuses to listen to anything past "y2k" and "revival era" for those bands ripped off (ie revival) what has/is the best iteration of said "artistic expression" whether it be a singular act or odd combination of a certain niche sound in said our niche ecosystem. so don't worry about "the classics" i say, for we ignore some form of "classic" based on who, where and when; too busy shouting what?! why?! and how?! through phone screens and computer monitors. in my expierence listen to as much as you can and more; even the stuff you don't like try suffer through it find things. as someone who is currently listening to ttng for the first time; im learning the dotted line segmentation that bends and is smudged by swafts of shore tide generations/identities. mathrock? emo? indiepunk? also reading people's thoughts on the first ep who come from more a mathrock world like tera melos and such; they're like "why is this first ep so sad sounding?" made me think is all.
you know that old saying or "wives' tale" i guess: concept of "poison = too much medicine" read an article written by one of the heads behind Duck Game discussing nostalgia as their "guiding light of authenticity" and "motivation" as well as "pure fire energy" excitement in a world ever dulling. it's interesting read as the perspective is the opposite of genuinely what i hear within "crucial important than you punk sphere land" nostalgia is killing creativity rawr, they're using it to market us!. to them nostalgia isn't inherently bad, humans are. (i added the later). for the warmth of old, our fleeting memory, our blanket we share to warm the clay. klin of kin and youthful dreams of precious jade, naive to "practicality" "possibility" "purpose" "reason" just pure "creativity" is "youth"; creativity itself a commodity to jaded decrepid miser. joy holds no purpose yet is the very last gold piece so small, so valuable. that bleeds dragon's hoard empty, for sentimental smirks and nods needs many hearts. and holds unique in the sea of the soul, a enduring drought slaying mere drop; a torrent meager, eager marauder innocence dagger mistaken rival to a clever sun. rival implies a contest one can win. life ain't a contest, its memory. of what has been and echo of what will. nostalgia be the moon that gives soul tide, soul giving life meaning. sun allows growth, revealing no secret, the only substance that is our very being. belies all. originality. wrapped in familiarity. many john's, joesph's and mary's nouns of all centuries climates culture...a peak of a mountain is seldom a master; for if the peak only remains you are no mountain. so we invent hierarchy. for worse and for worse. if "creativity" is the obsession strive for memory, not the ability to remember, for you contest nature rather the ability to sow memory. nations of ulysseus walks in the mossy shoes of icon mackaye as the static off wirey guy piccioto. the rite of spring an offering...one last wish to become part of the earth. molding clay with clay, memory with memory. souls.
after listening to we haven't spoke in years by Dazey, i can see how nostalgia tears open suppressed scabs and connects scars to a person you look at in the mirror no different than a stranger, yet the memory, thought, feeling, sings merrily across the skin; singeing chorus melding fantasy and reality, branding a melody hauntingly beautiful with our granted grafted letters of swallowed sentence on a new page sewn across our collective tale of woe and whimsy. pain the jacket to our numb cover hard name tag, skim the ink a delictable swirl around each birthday candle; and light a desire bright enough to ignore the sirens of a grey wish. punctuation, twist the handle. dont tell me the ending ill give you the chapter, reads different as a bow a choke on laughter; tears of joy show no scar, since those times blade bares pictured pearls, chewed up fight fake. pleas of a please warnings of a faceless victory; distant yet connected with the rain wringing down my face. to seldom wash what's written, nor the author, nor the ending. turn the page; blank blank blank blank blank. how i wish it were grey smoke snake from the bark "take". different forms of giving.
i guess what we're getting at is maybe instagram, twitter, youtube, x whatever myspace facebook vine tiktok is robbing the human race of "expierance" grand or miniscule good or bad up to you on that one if you must, and without these "expiereances" we feel "unfulilled". for memory of one another is the tugs of the strings, and we're accustomed to making each other dance. from the bonfire to the organ grinder.
all in good fun.

in the wake of bands opposing hydra head goliath regime massa nera pulls their music from "streaming services". the trusted rock from the sling. respect. not that i didn't before nor did they "need to do this", whether i agree with the decesion is not that point -> its rad to see someone/people stand for something; that is important, crucial to them. open conversation (hopefully getting past using up all our energy calling out and pointing fingers), lift the curtain sunbeams and floating dust pierce the rainbow snowglobe spider nest. spiders can be "good" if you are drawn to preverbial books. wings gavels making decesions for other beings. comfortable? breathing through the helsing "AI military defense" tube, life is choice. what a ceo chooses to invest in and what massa nera does with their art has nothing to do with me. "yes its my money" if money wears our fleshy suits; revolves the stars. life is valuable indeed. same said ceo/band mate is walking through same said city lends same said 10 bucks to same said person "down on their luck"; whether that person feeds their family or their (our) vices has nothing to do with me. though i feel the weight of the world. "ya its my money", it's everyone's money. comfortable? as we walk the same street on our way to directionless wherever, that person suddenly disappears; like to think they're "better off" whatever that is to you or me. to you or me... choices; its everyone's life. if that matters. so you take your "art" off streaming, from the devious generous hand in the name of self-reliance, control out of sacrificial flame no matter how small, for the world is small. and that's all that can be done with what little we have to offer to this small world. and how manifold the offerings, so full we make decesions for one another, eternal parents eternal children, the choice is learning. (also offering to send you music for free/encouraging bootlegging and piracy is dope.) to me that means for massa nerra its about the principle or the "message" (something we wholly ignore and if lucky take for granted, if not blantly stated in a social media post that literally goes world wide in a matter of minutes; today's world is insane). so to say one is limiting "the message" "exposure of your band" "ailenating" seems with all due respect ignorant. considering the "controversial message" (genocide sucks, business sucks, its killing us, life to and for the oppressed) is also being said through the foundational brick and mortar of our nascent snot-nosed fire cracker full moon "wise-guy" cunning backwards screaming fast lightning sloppy smirk of "we don't need you, we'll build our own." massa nera picked up one of those lost pebble nuggets as a reminder of how our "home" came to be, and how it's wrongly being reduced to antiquity, akin to a pre-evolutionary stone age. what we create is ours and what we chose to do with it shapes ourselves first than the world. we all know "capitalism is a necessary evil", and that our taxes here in the US contribute to the atrocities named slaughter funding death to the innocent abroad in the form of "handshakes, missiles and tanks" "allies/special interests" as they say in our consumerist competitive sport ball culture, "a good defense is a good offense". "proxies" "AI development" are the X's O's and arrows.
"so what spotify and google have direct stake in AI weaponry?" "so what investment firms who hold ownership/special interest in oil reserves buried in the middle east line the pockets of big business?" "so what almost every transaction on this tri-striped eagle bends our brave humble guardian shade into a point, sharp and sinister (with no thought and forced north gusto) "so what your unknown band is bleeding fractions of a cent from streaming?" "nothing changes." "kids are still dieing." "genocide and war and disease and death." massa nera (and others) did it because they know what they stand for, its in the music --> same thing for CEO-face, it's their being. consumed. afraid. wanting. confused. the difference? --> "d.i.y?" "the code we abide by?" much like veganism, "straight-edge". one singular effort is not going to demolish the meat packing insdustry, nor erase alcohol and free the mind. we live these "lifestyles" because we are who we are, not for anyone else this is who i am. humanity. to free the weilder's mind first and foremost. simple. no sickening hypocrisy. sounds selfish worded this way but its literally the exact opposite as time goes on strangely enough. "I" becomes "you" becomes "for the community" "against oppression" if only time wasn't so "limited" they figured that one out to stop progress. i am the author of my actions. respect people's decesions, learn something; at least not be afraid to be yourself. which im fortunate and priveledged as someone who doesn't face nearly as much "friction" as someone who is gay, black, a woman, indigienous; who's ethnic and/or sexual identity is derived from a historically/ongoing oppressed group. it's incredibly difficult.
that's all i wanted to say to myself. do things because you want to, because you love to. love peace, prosperity, charity and grace, mercy, forgiveness, joy, life? regardless it grows, take the stand and it grows in you. becomes the root of the battlefield. wage war with the self. the only battle that matters. for the Lord will provide.

before we continue to "discuss" these "pressing matters" with the same loaded gun with the same loaded ammo injected behind our eyeballs as bias assigns a name to the victim; as the armory leves another shelter. I chose to "discuss" with "I". because thats the one thing that i given control over, nothing else. this whole dropkick murphy savior golden boy media meal going on in the scene and outside of it, is gross. especially with including their next tour dates at the bottom of the article. as well as not including the other bands who dropped before them (destiny bond and time heist). as well as not including the tavern/establishment who set those preceding dominos "in motion" (the shambles tavern). as well as the group of people who organized a petition with close to 1k signatures calling for the event to be stopped (stoppunkinthepark); who also was one of the "parties" that made this "pressing matter" "public" that being ceo cameron forgotsurname donating almost 300$ to the trump campaign in the preceding year.
dominos fall, and we continually fall and fall and fall, grasping the "punk dogma" chain yanking at as a lifeline that's drowning this "culture" since the beginning. I want change, and its inspiring to see people advocating and actively doing something for a cause they believe in for people they believe in which thankfully is generally for all walks of life. getting your hands dirty creating alternative places to play for bands and "people" who don't agree with the donation/endoresement and don't want to contribute or be associated with trump is awesome. give people "the choice", just without all the judgement. im tired of all this skeleton digging i find it quite depressing. is it important to know my shop teacher intentionally killed a person with a scroll saw when they were in tech school? ya probably. is it important to know my uberdriver beats their spouse and child is an alcholic doing everything they can to help their sick mother and somehow put food on the table? is it imperitive to know where i'll be in five years so i can take my predetermined sorrowful "correct" exact steps to meet my shallow unimagintaive lonely netured dream? where am i going with this? im not sure. all i know is, ahem "I" know is. with all do respect to everyone, im not interested in the constant "research papers" written about "heinous heads" who "make mistakes" in their "past lives", yes some mistakes are quite more than mistakes; but for me. "I" think that's irrevalent and a collosal waste of time, especially when it amounts to---> social post punk slogan ya *high-five* which 9/10 does. and the person/people who go the extra mile deoting their time and energy to finding other venues to play at, organizing another show in denver and donating the "earnings" to charity (in the case of time heist as well) should be the focus. for "I" -->not condemning one another for beliefs, most of the time beliefs that are more than 15 feet in the dirt. focusing on what we stand for not against. and working with ANYONE and EVERYONE who is standing for the same things (even those who once held said beliefs); not just to stand on someone's back
to make a clever remark, remarks don't help the community. they might help me push my "content" but not change my heart, make it bigger. i want a big heart, not an enlarged heart due to dna or life style choices. though sometimes all we can do is "talk". not for me to judge your actions. *cue passionate speech of punk = spitting in the face of people who don't agree with you. not built on morality/respect/rules... confrontational...*
{} passion is pain, and pain isn't just punk its life, and pain isn't just hate its love. what makes it all worth it is how we interpret stars. and reading through these endless letters of white wise vanguard and fledgling bright tomorrow sparrow; what makes "punk" "punk" is exisitng in spite of everything else. making records, writing zines, booking shows; whatever else, a light of an undieing. and yes some lights have to be extinguished to keep yours, concsiously or otherwise. some don't care if "our culture is being sold as a fad with a face without a name to a why bother with the name when you're going to be gone ina year" how else are the next generation of kids (in the middle of nowhere) are going to come across this world, "the real world". when they go into their mall/local chainstore and see a green day record or rage against the machine record, or any of the myraid copies/reflections dreaded doppleganger grunge pop bands of father soundgarden ---> far (mother mary is a great song) and even then who's going to tell them about inside out and split-lip? "hopefully" some soul at their show 4 hours out of their backwater town. maybe they hear about mmr at sam goodie's or happen to read a thank you list in a record they somehow got their mitts on or the other kid at school saw your "battle jacket" and felt bad lent you the nation of ulsseys 7" better shot getting struck by lightening. let's be real:
-everything is cyclical
-everything is a trend
-everyone is free to do whatever they want (supposedly)
-"just have fun"
-its not that serious (in hindsight)(with others suffering on some far off coast...or next door)
and of course to somene who loves this "punk" stuff, it feels like a bolt through the chest when the scene goes through these "growing pains". and on the other hand the same older "kid" who doen't listen to anything with a barcode somehow has every nyhc release since the psychos tape trades and "distros" in the local paper has a column in "bone break" mag. where their "passionate letters" fly like heat seeking missles striking every one winged whirly bird spazz chaos band as an antioach arrow/san diego scene no message rip off, groove laden dissonant churn a quicksand or fugazi hack and any semblance of tubeful songbird melody and form a sell out in the jaded name of "orginality" and "preservation". yes back then hoover and indian summer were deemed fugazi rips, honeywell and angel hair a nou/aa/struggle rip, jara a downcast rip etc. etc. olive a earth crisis rip...
scene does not equal musicianship
trends have always existed, always will. bands and people don't, "awareness" "intent" is gold. nostalgia is a lone harrow hill. the last house, first in the town boarded up wishes we can't forget. the family grim longing, condemned in eternal haunting. spirits imprisoned to belonging. and knocking always for a quick visit. we become guilty by associaition. tied to "parental generation epics" hippie movement, teddy boys, "punk" itself the lens rose-colored therefore "understanding"; economics economics hand-me downs... people become extensions, forgotten "individuals" grouped as a herd and the lost sheep roam shepeards without a care for they "understand".
preservation halts progress challenging expression with dogma;
-your straight edge zine/my biased "midwest-emo" zine (all its niche definitions/tribulations)
-gibson sg + marshall jcm800, vx1000 the camera codified skateboarding (for even accesible tools begets "rules" begets style fads and trends)
-"sass-core", "metallic hardcore" fandom we love what we love
if you are "aware" of your love (bias) you apparantly have the will to choose what to be influenced by. creativity is consciousness not in method in heart. the present, bane of nostalgia, informed by past to shape future rooted in now; where action and passion always contened for each heart beat. and all else are distortions of reality; for if i write soley about "midwest-emo" its possible to draw the conclusion that today's scene is dominated entirely by the style, when in actuality screamo/skramz 2000s metalcore with tinges of black-metal/nu-metal/crust/powerviolence/grind/post-rock/other niche genre (including midwest emo mostly the revival iteration of 2010s) is king of the hill. running around with a label gun stuffing these bands into a file cabinet also reduces the "significance" "excitement" overall energy of current zeigeist. you ruin the mystique by dubbing koyo a tbs/silent majority clone, the "joys" of being an old head. onewaymirror a jerome's dream impersonator, all the title fight core, kinsella core, orchid/i hate myself/john henry west plague, the more we go on and on i start to sound like a butt. and everything becomes "meaningless". SO STOP. if we are to discuss nation of ulysses (i guess AA as well) let's discuss the focus on "intent" because at the end of the day, when we do anything creative intention is seemingly the most within our control. as the suit and tie "uniforms" flail about with incoherent pheonix pinion searing 8th dawn storms purge the person pure with painless scars death knell in where one makes the road end; as hope is the generous light that burns all backs; from the dusk moon and golden sun. we choose to close our eyes and slumber, befriending our shadow half rather the holy whole. for the result is null, for our result is death, at some point or other. and the sole way to show life is heart; steady urges sure steps and action. infiltrated rhythm in harmony with your right and left are accustomed to dissect. for faceless are we truly, a suit and tie, when you fear yourself. feel the locking lines of society contracts. where no matter the message spun to fill the pocket, so we mutter and dance and live free out of bounds for life is more than words its sound. lexicon slave we are. ironic that in which was "presently destroyed" was codified as evident in acts such as born against. nou is a cracked out dialed to eleven formless embrace. all due respect to the bands all in "good fun" (for i am a kinsella/john galm programmed robot bee boop). for revolution is a popularity contest. popularity = fads and so the sleep walking malyaise through the great gear rusted maze churns. and we the axel, watching the churning of garbage as a soaring burning crap comet. dreams locked in clouds. revolution is self-ingesting, canibalistic. the more people you try to win over "bought and sold" both ways, the more the hot air balloon deflates becomes filled with watered down principles slogans, grey major label. revolution trends from suits and ties to venmo google's top search result organization loose change pile repost lingers as an approval shameless pat on the back perfect pair with the vile stench of death as an old pair of socks. they want to push the agenda, so they can ultimately push you. "not my words" ;) its never about the message, the entire scene, it's about you (as long as you look cool); its many facets interlinked so long as it feels. for when it ceases or becomes to wilt, fade, is when an end becomes false paradise. take a break. write a song. watch a movie. go for a walk. book.

prettypretty ep (came across a different artist instead of the pop punk perth band, this is indie pop from queer women, good songs nice melancholy synth lines and parts with like i love you love you baby lyrics rock n roll)
prettypretty demo (this is the band from perth that sounds like what you would expect pop punk to sound like in the vein of early aughts new found glory, nvm the second song is like emorevival with that vocal style over it kinda different so ya i dig i dont mean to sound depricating good songs)
sex pistols never mind the bullocks (i can see why it a classic, i feel like the test of time as well as the cold hands of corporate greyworld really made this record consequently punk rather tame and corny as largely what i see when hearing this record is like scenes from like cheesy highschool films and like greasers, ponyboy stereotypes and all that which unfortunately predominatley comers out as a result: corny. but there is a silver lining in that sex pistols have swag, style unabashed that rivals most bands of today, which to me is inspiring, and these songs are good songs some bangers.)

cauterize single (ant sent me this, it seems like we're hitting the mid aughts pop punk nostalgia/amaze core i hate that term, esentially take whats been going on with metalcore, bands in opposition to that like anxious, koyo, one step closer, neck deep still going, knuckle puck, stick to your guns still drawing, four year strong, free throw to a degree, the come back of a lot of emo acts, american football, capn jazz, bear vs shark now, snowing playing some dates, while there is an underbrush of traditional more 80s inspo hxc going on, to me it seems like we're heading largely into this hyped up over melodic sound with traces of metalcore/screamo going on as well as some disturbed slipknot kill switch underoath bring me the horizon asking alexandria type stuff, thats what is going to explode soon i think. people are tired of only heavy beatdown band largely in my opinion, is it still going to have an audience? yes, all of it is, but the next wave of bands is going to be this amaze core metalcore nu metal melodic thing. i think idk, which im just going to call, post-hardcore just more metal/sludgy/shoegazy/adjective than quicksand)

charles bradley lp1 (cool
4 non blondes lp (very riffy and easy to hate, im glad i listened to it but it paints a picture of music industry grossness how like a record deal on interscope ruins a group of friends. producer was just like hit oause on recording "get another guitarist, you're done" and the rest of the band is like ok you out and the drummer was "fired" before that, it makes me think, some songs are good but they ended up piecing these songs with guitar punch ins of different styles and awkward shredding which is what i do, made me think...)

good fliying birds demo (awesome )
yours, forever yours lp (i believe the tides are turning on vs. self sceamo skramz era, maybe perhaps due to warped tour, tik tok bait of hxc and midwest emo, as well as the current nature of those scenes: the former being tough inherently hard dogmatic in ethics and ethos, the latter a more welcome offshoot that is currently a mere pathetic shadow of a skyscraper, though a kinda pitable lego tower: it's authentic so i respect it, i respect it all)(midwest emo is currently a scene of depressed 30 yr old prolonged adolescent incel child babies who are too "indie" "old" "crotchety" to "gel" with the current hardcore scene, and truly mesh with the brackish water of metalcore/screamo/skramz of today. just recently the charmer single; they changed their sound but kept what makes charmer charmer, vocal cadence and vibe. we are the untouchables lack of a better term. we got new bands, casper fight scene, trsh, dear mr.waterson leading the new gen; of course sataurdays at your place, arm's length, carly cosgrove, pool kids, ben quad, oolong though it's dicey with "newer" bands. moosecreek park, jam poetry, beach shoppe, no coincidence, kikangu, holidays in the united states, small comforts, clay lake, missed connection, fine! i guess, monkey lamp, silver material, drunk uncle, you just got to dig man, but actual people aint got time for that and rely onalgorhythms, blogs, youtubers and what is left of pitchfork, fantano idk)

water polo/ housecat split (this thing awesome)
negative bias lp
feeling of home ep
a little hit of some jackson 5, diana ross, marvin gaye, mighty mighty bosstones and tammi terrell
still life lp 3 (one of the best bands of te genre, this lp is a perfect example of how to "mature" with your sound while not being too ailenating to the growing zeitgeist at the time of the early aughts "emo mainstream marketing campaign" whether intentional or not,
coping ep (great 2010s emo)
sdre diary (had to really dig into it, listened to it while filling out job apps huzzah, in my mind i automatically compare/associate it with still life and mineral rainer maria jimmyeatworld what have you, febuary stars union we can go on and on; out of all those bands, sunny day real estate has songs, songs that stick with you, well so does jimmy eat world but like, songs in terms of for the more "mainstream" pop leaning ear worm, that's the term, they have hooks, where as other "emo" bands in this vein, still life, even mineral and not so much rainer maria they teeter on that middle point, they have more of a "vibe", capturing an energy with the overall record or music if you will.)
underwater basket weaving ep (underated ontario emo)

my heart to joy lp (new fav uh oh)
pennikurvers s/t (also awesome)
life of agony lp1 (early metal black sabbath slayer queen guns n roses nyhc hardcore, reminded me of bands like leeway, that ilk, b sides are solid, i get the appeal though not completley for me, drummer kills, and there are a few dope riffs, vocals also remind me of neglect though my frame of reference is nill. good band, drummer goes on to type-o)
superstar crush ep (pop record hey-o)
the winter without. lp (great emo band, 2nd wavey little 3rd, i dig it, i say solid underratted but thats just a result of what is popular now and that is still cracked out midwest twinkle indie emo)

ponkhaus ep (also good more of this)
ricky christian lp (dude from mallard is talented, post-rock mallard, riffs through a reverb pedal noice)
very haunted curdoroy bear live lp (dope band indie/emo, they just have a number live sets recorded i think thats dope and fresh)
camden s/t (indie from aomeone who played in the promise ring, odd experimental indie rock i dig)
echo and the bunnymen 2x single (ok)
mount mural single
pop hysteria ep (more weird indie rock, riffs are cool, last song some hxc in there, incessant? yes, but thats ok)
corcovado money shot (acoustic)
slurred terms / this weeks leader split
old hearts club discog (great band unique underated mid 90s emo)
nintendo s/t (late 90s screamo, more agressive than other bands at the time i feel, they stand out now can only imagine back then?)
older friends lp (stand out release very nice)
doc hopper ep1 (cool punk band early 90s, boston, fast catchy, kinda reminds me of blink cheshire cat era, though doc hopper got solos and more hardcore influence, rather than blink who sort of are just one tempo fast)
ratos de porao lp (this is like super fast punk to the point where at parts it could be argued as proto power violence, og brazilian band, i dig)
capulette - everything i forget (live) (dope screamo twinkle)
storsender 2x single (cant believe this was released in 99, post-hardcore from austria thats ahead of its time in terms of incorporating both heavy metallic hxc verses and more of hardcore punk transitions youthcrew stuff, with what was going on wth screamo and later on with like tears of avarel, anasarca, bands like, maybe 7angels 7plagues? im talking out of me bum, great band)
superheaven ep
thoughts on bowling single (midwest emo i havent heard thats popping, very good yes, seems like we're pulling more from 4th wave now, that might be whats next the early twinklelies)
halftimeshow ep (goated band some of my fav current twinkle revival emo)
every dog has its day ep (also sick more chill)
hurts worse single and ep (lofi indie rock thumbs up)
pastels lp2 (for me personally much better than lp1, dont know what happened, i think they needed a little break or just try something new get it out of their system type thing, i get it, both have merits though.)
fracture nj ep (prob the most digestible nu metalcore out right now for me personally no diss on anyone)
sewn away 2x single (metalcore in the direction of more heavy verse light chorus dual singer vocalist, pretty cool not my thing )
musty flick lp ( i tried couldnt get through it, good ideas just needs better execution, i relate heavy thats why i kept listening)
musty flick single (its nice to see them still make music, its great now kinda modern baseball esque but in its own way, great writer)
evergreen / spirit dive split (evergreen side is cool grunge emo, not too much of a fan of the spirit dive side sadly)
lose sight demo
insouciant nr-004 (what was a senior project became an obsession, cool ideas and song writing)
insouciant lp1 (something charming about being earnest)
jeremy enigk return of the frog queen lp (basically sdre with orchestra setting and more traditional song structures, waltzes, carnival, cool)
jeremy enigk christ is risen single (want to hear the lp)

the great lie single (long island hardcore old heads still killing the game bringing something new too)
fixed game demo (not sure if i heard this or not, dope hxc)
fatlip ep
sour tooth ep (this was interesting like 2nd wave emo x grunge/shoegazy (grungegaze?) sound, kinida liked it hard to describe might not review but it challenges my brain)
waves crashing single (post-punk cool, makes me miss basement music and questions my rationale on trying to make a living off basement music when i was 18. oh well)
morris village ep (noice)
morris village single (yeh)
wimp ep (band from the uk that rips, fav i guess emo/post hardcore ep or one of fav of 2023, did the split with prom, not that prom the other prom)
lakuna lp (great band, not my thing but deserves to be heard imo, taking the metalcore sound and really making it there own unique too)
we know the water troll! single (bedroom i guess 5th wave emo is what this "genre" has been dubbed, experimental electronic music with influences of 3arly aughts emo/screamo, its interesting more variety between bands/artists, im no stranger just hard to pin down which i really like)
anorak! single (they heading towards that screamo, it sounds not like them personally but it might grow on me, they are great musicians solid band and they do have the side project uhh i forget what its called but very similar to the midwest sound they were doing prior)
do you like butter? single (indie acoustic stuff cool)
whitewood drive single (grungr gaze of today, )
false futures 2x single
(T-T)b single (indie bedroom pop wave coming whoa)
throw away single (heavy post hardcore screamo so deep in reverb and bass waves i cant make out anything, dig it, energy is dope)
MIRLO que bien se seinte tenerte como amigo ep (emorevival/indie type rock, songs are great, i digg love the last song especially)
tatarntula trust fund lp (indie jam band esque, some bloc party in there, not toatally my thing but i like the vibe, chill laid back rain is a great song)
the smiths lp1 (great lp dude, music is just sound vibe and person, wrds are sounds too, connection!)
not one truth demo II (awesome nj hxc)
lemmings singles (australia alt rock/indie/emo idk, great songs, im stoked)
sue ep (boston area screamo, more punk, heavy, post-hxc groove, one of my favs i put them in the same boat as pyre the chaotic angular screamo thats more niche today, love that stuff personally)
evil ways demo (long island local new blood, sounds like PoT more punk, extrapulated take it and sort of bend and distort it pretty dope, they have the cosign with the hangman feature so they're part of that crew so makes sense, billy club inspired breakdowns)
dear old friends ep (solo emorevival type from an older gentleman with offspring, what the scene meme calls elder emo/ emo dad, regardless of how i feel about the term and the surrounding rhetoric i guess, songs are good)
doris/ es muss sein split (for the 2nd wavers, doris is a bright star, constellation when it comes to emo, recognizable, and es muss sein are just this random band shows up that loves mineral, so good)
the smiths meat is murder (very similar to the first, too similar in my opinion, songs are longer, still good, i just think they needed more time between records but as this point the trains was going i guess, not a bad record at all just reminds me of the first save a few songs, def has its place though)
corcovado/uncle business split (no idea this exsisted; excellent!)
uncle business ep (bethlehem twinkle emo of yore (2011)
the smiths the queen is dead(in terms of record scope and vibe, second fav, s/t takes it for me still, in terms of "tracks" queen is dead has my favs, there is a light that never goes out, some girls are bigger than others, cemetry gates. though this when i kinda realize, huh, morrisey might be a bit out there after all, but that's ok. i dont want to judge i mean look at me.)
dewclaw single
horse jumper of love 2x single (great band)
dewclaw 22'-23' singles (ep1) (chill solo acoustic indie singer songwriter, good vibe good songs, gets better over time, life.)
young animals lp (apart of me thinks too polished, takes away the "persona" in my view, regardless great band, vocals are lil too much for me, too sing song-y but i recognize there are other people in the world besides me)
louise ep (indie vibes goood)
the smiths lp4 (ya ok, most logical progression in my opinion, extrapolated on what they are known for, mostly in instrumentation, wheras the earlier lps after self-titled have an odd bridge or atypical form and/or more odd and expansive lyrics. not my fav, beleive it or not the instrumentation in my view makes this association in my brain with early 80s synths and stereotypical sonic elements so if i didnt know and you put this record on, i would tell you that ya this is the follow up to the s/t lp. so in that respect, idk might be my least fav cuz the added instrumentation doesnt necessarliy enhance what the band is about in my view, it makes the music less relateable to me and distracts me from the lyrics and the interacting/intersecting guitar lines and weaving bass line as well. so ya, prob my least fav lp by them currently. are they all great records, absolutely: 1. s/t 2. queen is dead 3. meat is murder 4. strangeways, here we come
the hotelier live vid (this band would of been dope to see in the humble basement when they were the hotel year)
johnny hobo and the freight trains (first exposure to this band was a thread on reddit hating on the dude's voice and how big the band is, people look at them more so other musicians and go, "why is this guy who can't sing or play the guitar doing more with music than i ever did?" guess it only takes 4 chords and a heart. or its all luck at the end of the day, and how long you stay. idk i dont want to do things out of vanity anymore, and thats a mammoth task on my own...)
bluegill demo (single) (3 songs, chill lo-fi kinda shoegazy, good stuff)
cointoss (new emorevival midwest emo poppunk outfit of 2025, seems like emo is mixing more with the melodic hardcore/poppunk circle, makes only matter of time, read online someone saying the only real difference between the two has always been "diy ethics" from way back starting with idk greenday, or even the descendants, "poppunk" bands were a little more hands off or "removed" from directly controlling the recording/vinyl pressing process, touring etc., talented band a little to tappy, but i like it curious for there first substantial release)
overhand single (sick)
kairo. / snow halo split
agent51 demo tape (reissue of the first demo tape that came out in 95' this one dropped in 98', awesome songs you can hear where blink came from)
housewarming party ep (i dig, decent angsty indie-punk i cant really remember, not sure if thats good....makes me wonder i stress bout people listening to my music, make what you want i guess, cause im gonna forget, maybe you will too :), no offense, i remember it was kind of mom jeans esque, early jeans, front bottoms ish maybe)
semi-local forcast ep (same as above really, good straight forward indie punk songs)
disaster artist single (curious bout lp)
marble teeth single (same as above)
to nod lp (incredible release, emoviolence is what an 18 yr old would say, screamo/emoviolence, i like it)
lead spirit ep (upcoming youth crew hxc, i feel it, beacon of light will guide my way)
clay lake 2x single (love this band)
south walk single (also dope)
naysayer single (comes out in 2 weeks mid april, 2 step 2 step)
wild side ep (i dig, they got style in spades)
animals house of the rising sun lp (this band is early 60s proto punk to me, and james brown rip)
utility demo
sinker live set (inspired a song, "inspired" lol the song off the ebulition comp, detroit has sick bands)
footnotes summer shit ep (one of my favs of the emorevival era 2010s, mallard corcovado boys)
empire state games lp (rad melodic emo hardcore from 98')
jabberjaw novelty 7" (i guess im in a indian summer extended universe, stumbled into it)
7 seconds old school lp (supposed to be lp1 titled "united we stand" orig never released released in 95', recorded in mar. 1983 includes 3 tracks off of blast from the past ep,
ebullition comp 93' (manumission. not for the lack of trying, sinker, john henry west)
autumn sonata single (chubby bunny challenge, sick transition to breakdown aplus)
unspoken even home cannot be called home demo (melodic hxc/emo from indonesia, if you like anxious one step closer koyo this is it, cool twinkle riffs also)
shawn garlic single (rap that is just silly... i dig it, its fun)
leaving for arizona ep (if you like tmp here it is, great band not just tmp but the last song oozes that)
steamroll demo (dope)
face the pain ep (awesome)
reviler lp (heavy in not the groovr nyhc way and not in the caveman d-beat way style popular today, just unrelenting syncopation cymbal rides, not totally my thing but if i had to pick a heavy record of the modern era its tis one)
the hollies lp
thisisit. singles (awesome acoustic emo bedroom indie music)
crippling alcholism single
move it, footballhead lp (awesome mdern emorevival glad bands still doing it, almost seems like they making fun of it but who cares songs are great dont take it seripusly)
culture wars single (modern rock sounds like the scorpions)
jabberjaw / blood brothers split (didnt think blood brothers sounded like that. actually liked it though i feel its farcry from what they go on to be if assumptions are to be maps, didnt know jabberjaw was before indian summer oops whatever wasnt there)
crocuta crocuta demo (friends having fun, pixies cover, last song sounds like it would fit in well with the screamo/skramz of today, heavy down trodden rather than bursty shrapnel, cool)
then i just went to ol'reliable clay lake love that band but i was trying to get ytube to spit out more of that twinkle style lol im so stupid)
rookie town lp (awesome emo ca. 2015)
13th chime singles collection (goth rock, sounds like proto shoegaze, without the verbs and livelier drums and atmosphere, has a vibe to scrawl around)
ssd 12" (rip al berile, digging in your music you rule. not gonna ffront was only mildly aware of ssd and the like, its fast and snotty, some pre rev summer, i hear where cromags ans refused might of come from hxc wise, all time greats, hear like vocalwise, carbomb chris hodge, the san diego scene, off the top of my head drug church a lil.)
ssd 12" [reissue] (curious bout the trust records reissue, not sure if i like it more, its on streaming so its nice to point to the songs i like, and i wanted to run it back)
ssd get it away 12" (so much better than the lp)
ssd how we rock lp3 (heavy metal X hxc, crosss-over thrash might be one of my favs of this era, reminds me of mario golf toadstool tour and bloody roar soundtrack, one too many solos but the hxc influence is perfect, loive the transitions and the 2 step verses its still punk enough i dig it, vocally i hear jay mindforce maybe inspo for sho for sho)
ssd lp4 (whoa hair metal poison, def leppard whoaaa, guns n roses,i can imagine people feeling a certain way at the time, ie not likeing it or a bunch of dudes standing at the record store like blank face, "you kidding me right?" but listening to it now looking back in retrospect, its a fun record it seems to me)
back seat driver single (eh, early aughts screamo twinkle its ok not my thing, also reminds me of school of rock, which is dope)

sdre lp3 (prob my fav, has most of the songs i like, or my fav songs by them, imo a refinement of jeremy's writing style feel like he found it after taking a break from the second record or rather just shaking the burnout to go explore creativity with his solo stuff as well as his faith, comes back and writes a banger of a record, dope dope)
life demo 6

scowl on colbert
scowl lp (alk trio, smoking popes alanis morisette?, hole, hum, the sundays, the breeders, pixies, bjork, pj harvey? maddonna, lady gaga, ramones/circle jerks, cranberries, cardigans, tonight (im afraid) great song milasmans breathing spacious vocal melodic sequences over tight steady driving rhythms, hxc verses into alt rock choruses, far, fleshed out sounds like the band vine sounds like indian summer, suffer the fool did the koyo ten digits away intro on suffer the fool, aptly named, well they did do some shows with them so it makes sense influenced by contemporaries, its a great record, 90s grunge, early 90s emo, 2000s alt rock, making it their own still though, i see where bubble scary is coming from, here's what ill say about the whole scowl thing on colbert, great songs, great band, don't like the look at pretty lady blantant marketing schtick its cringy i feel, they still have their sound, and are a hardcore band as much as the press, media and our own community says otherwise, which i find creates a sort of irony in that kat is hamming up the look at me thing almost highliting the this is what you want out of our scene, you can have it we still have the real deal. so to speak. like mainstream wants pretty lady, edgy lord shut up mom im mad tough gurll you go thing and ive seen press, mainly the new york times article, try to paint hxc scene as this space that doesnt allow women to express themselves in this way (playing off the "forget the haters" slogan found in practically everything, that we're just a bunch of neanderthal knuckleheads. also the colbert thing had key choreagraphic points to show kat do the thing and made her the focus "main character" which is the antithesis of hardcore yada yada blah blah could bring trouble with the new kids coming up getting exposed to hardcore through these avenues (knocked loose) blah blah though real recognizes real the more you stick in and engrain yourself in culture yada blah blah.)

arda single
sdre rising tide lp (very rush-esque, more of the experimental eastern asian influence in melody, its basically the next step after previous record how it feels to be something on. the title track is a banger, my least fav sdre record, but a great record)

cliffmoor single (dope emo screamo hvy wooo)

crash test auto demo
gursday 2x single
total knock in ep
an ideal superstition single (midwest emo)
caution well single (midwest emo, i see where the opinion is coming from, midwest emo today does seem cringe pathetic nostalgia bating im depressed about my 401k and not being married and not being able to afford home have kids but whoa xbox halo 2 haha remember that?!, but its all cringe really, i see though where the younger kids are sticking to screamo cause its different, still cringe but its "theirs" for lack of a better term, midwest emo today has become poppunk for our generation, it acts as a "gateway" to all this.)
somerset thrower single (oso oso esque)
xiao ep (hard dope)
seb roberts lp tape (solo artist from canada i belive vancouver? takes all his inspirations aspirations rolls it into one amalgamation of experimental ambient music that at one point sounds like emo, drone, spoken word pieces its interesting, indie-rock as well, cool stuff)
heavy lag ep (members of the ergs, dope indie-punk, melodic warm, i dig)
the slow death lp (dope rock n roll coming out in 2025, jawbreaker-y)
tiny dino 2x single (good emo)
growing stone (chill indie, playing bk in june with john galm and the dude from brave little abacus)

no estas... / todos hemos muerto split (this is awesome)
sanction live set
typecaste live set
uncle buisness ep (not bad kinda blends in with the 4th wave snowing algernon twinkle)
karg lp (i guess post-hardcore or post-rock band from europe austria something like that trot records?)
misaki ep (we are officially in screamo x metalcore land, at least on the west coast, by the end of the year we be dripping)
bike routes ep (and midwest emo is in pop punk land, i say cool all good)
twentythreenineteen single
north warren ep
food truck singles (its good but not for me, i an kinda curious though of b sides of lp)
the buddy system forever ep
petridish split
birth tape single (pomona "pv" band which today due to metalcore/ mettalic hardcore being the overwhelming standard has certaintly dialed the spin cycle back to more of hardcore punk/crust punk, still fast i dig it there's a certain cadence to it, melodic in a way)
birth tape demo
birth tape / carne moida split
carne moida / paraiso purulento split
birth tape / minoxidil split (minoxidil's side is gonzo, at least to my preliminary search.)
toddler stomper single (weird hearing a modern powerviolence goregrind crust whatever people call it anvil snare frying pan single, i take it)
birthday tape / dischwaser split
leonsfirstday ep (screamo metal boom boom)
expiration date ep (awesome screamo from like the late 2010s, thats the first time i said that whoa; good stuff, riff driven, jacobs ladder sounds like enter sandman still metal-y i dont mind just not my tea ;))
gold dust 2x single (screamo heads making indie rock, van pelt and stuff,)
ebbot lungberg single
sideshow 7" 89' (sort of blends in with 80s hxc apart from some interesting openings and grooves but for today's standard pretty generic especially with the vocals which sound like a cross between still life and indian summer to me.according to tisdale, this release is actually their previous' high school band peer puppet 7" in which they just relabeled sideshow with an el marko, thats how sideshow came into existence according to this article, only difference being bernie taking on vocal duties in sideshow)
sideshow 12" 90' (first caulfield relase, technically first sideshow release, which makes sense, founded by bernie, this record is where i hear the indian summer, or maybe they influenced them and vine, that riff in the angel song is in the second song: down; i also hear guy of fugazi/rites of spring emo folklore, def a more west coast melodic faster rites of spring; and the song right sounds like still life's sunrise sunset off of their first lp which came out in 93 or 94)
capote 2x single (brazilian band? dope indie/emo)
week knees lp2 (they always had a heavier side to midwest emo/emorevival type music kinda like shag lab though more heavy on downbeat, this record goes more heavy for the modern ear, some screamo songs as well mixing the two as more of like changing the tap from hot to cold type; i think its good i think i like their older songs more, this record as a few hits though so maybe it will grow on me a lil more)
laken campo single (indie awesome singer-songwriter "wedding singer" very awesome song, just a great song. this is how you do it, hope it gets the boulders rolling; ie write some better songs kid)
amelia's best friend lp (good indie-rock singer songwriter stuff, calming breath catching rather than taking and yanking whether by design or otherwise)
appalachian terror unit single
spacemaus ep
six good years 2x single
quake.exe single
sawyer norman 2x single
shallowater single (peep that lp)
rosemary nods upon the grave ep (another incredible screamo band, on tour with epyon revival west coast, along with sailboat, at first, at first, thursday marks fall, pyre, among others...)
fieldnote / the sissy boys split (both great bands)
nightbeforeautumn single
people i love single
wesley wolffe single
SeaKings ep
own yr ghost demo (idea for zine where we look at a few bands from a random city, show like a dart hitting a map or something)
skimp lp (incredible 2nd wave esque emo, sdre, mineral, great lp a fav thus far)
bottle cap ep (i dont want to just dub this band or any similar rxpression in this art form misrepresent it or deny it its due diligence paint it in assumptions of coming off as unserious silly art; which it could very well be, the best art makes you think and feel something and this ep did, and asks the question, do you really need something to say to make art? a certain iq? course not. does it have to be good? no it doesn't we're allowed to make "bad" art, it can be anything from a pure release to a spider web of yarn and tacks criss and crossing looking for the manaic psychopath who spent 6 months writing the same demo song over and over.
art and by extension life, is what you make of it, and thats very refreshing and a very welcoming reminder for me personally. who is currently hell bent on writing a song exactly the way i want it to be for people to gawk at and regard me as "somebody", ket it go)
just us demo
can't lose demo (this is greatz)
bastro
shinobu live vid (why did i ignore this band)
quick to judge single
slo-anne lp (good, middle for me, chill indie songs)
glen 2x single
bearsbeetsbattlestar discog (great 5th wave twinkle screamo/bedroom emo for the genre police out there)
ciao ep (awesome emorevival, i think one of them is in jingwei)
chausie ep
tv sundaze single
keddies resort single
gunk lp (nj beatdown before name change to uhhhhh, life of deceit)
life of deceit single (roughly a year after name change, more or less the same sound maybe a lil tighter and better production, they incorporate a good amount of other influences besides hxc and metal and nu metal so out of the beatdown bands of today life of deceit are more favorable for me, they stand out a bit more)
ciao kennedy singles (kindalike a modern electro jazz funk band large amount of inluence by videg game soundtracks, its good but just not feeling right now, i was in the mood for something brooding and heavy after recording and writing all day, blow off steam now i wantto chill which might be like, rocking horse winner or front bottoms)
artery single
no plan lp
boo boo spoiler ep (we are sperpetually stuck in the title fight, alt/shoe gaze grunge drug church heart attack man meme heavy metalcore tough twink era (emo and adjacent genres), or within the hxc scene a contending rise in more traditional hxc i guess as supposed to the beatdown metalcore,--> youthcrew, oi, more old school hardcore, melodic hardcore, bands like bayway, haywire, lead spirit, full stride, \
worry club single (sounds like interpol and third eye blind, good song tho no hate, thats why i dont like talking about music in terms i dont like, its not being negative, i dont think, its more so being critical, which can be interpreted as negative, in the end i think there is valid insight in someone being honest with how they feel about something/ a subject or opinion especially when you can feel the passion like its palpable in the air. its the lord jesus' word, our father's word, be born again, take up your cross and follow me. these things happen for a reason to inform and define us today, to do the word of the lord right now, not back then or tommorrow; but right this second, always on awaited breath.
whispers of her single (with all due respect, the cure plus autotune; though isee it having people who dig it mainly the younger set.)
sideshow 7" WMBR radio cambridge (2 singles off of a future lp, 1 off of the first lp (after name change) and guelph that i believe only appear here which is a great song)
-sideshow lp2 (eggplants and sunspots, great record, proto second wave, these guys really love fugazi and rites of spring, specifically vocally with the "guy-isms", but ya sideshow underated, shaped indian summer, sdre, still life, vine, this record has a song that just does the slam quarter rest new bar downbeat for the second half of the song that became a staple of "emo"; i hear some still life songs that possibley came out of this, they sound like an 80s band but also a 90s band, both a relic and prophesy, self-fulfilling. great band great record)
-the karl hendricks trio single (this is cool too, indie/emo mid 90s, i dig)
-sideshow rust / face foot ladder 7" (drumming is impeccable, a lil more jehu-esque some of that imo shows on lp2, rust is on their lp3, face foot ladder is just a good song with great drumming)
-sideshow lp3 (wow, def hear "midwest emo" in the later records, i like these songs a lot more digestible material i guess as well "poppy" not quite just not as discordant in terms of harmony and form, the harmony i like just simple few changes moving bass melodic line over another simple guitar riff or octave gesture, they do the slam thing again on the last song so thats dope must goooo live. idk its close in terms of favorite record, it might be this one i feel like they are most unique here, or stand out the most at this time with these songs, despite the sdre song they have here though i really like these songs. i think they got together like 15 years later and did an ep in 2010? not sure, but great stuff well done, makes sense bernie goes on to luck of aleia you can hear that here and even a lil last record)
get get go s/7 7"
jingwei single (on yt super dope emorevival screamo with the guitarist from ciao on drums in jingwei v nice)
juneau single
sorry state demo
faded paper figures single
mafia birdhouse single
midori / knuckle sandwitch single
shinobu single
teemee singles
graybles. lp (they always say, "theres an artist/band for you in every genre, in terms of the indie mumble bossa nova lo-fi chill ost's, this one is great, local artist to nyc i believe or one of the boroughs at least,
indonesian emo mixtape (could be a cool idea for the zine, pick a view bands and showcase them, like here are some long island bands, new england bands, philly florida etc.)
the french sleeves lp (this is really cool, alt rock emo more 2nd wavey verses like vine, indian summer, hoover sort of the grungy sort that climax into 3rd wave lush choruses with beautiful synth arrangements that then cascade into dissonance, sounds like lincoln park at times, well twice , push pulls of reality, an elevator of your enterprise high rise, piercing the heavens on their backs, dwellers under the pass, brick and mortar breakfest, to ride the steam dream rails over head the black and grey clouds of new borns, naive and the chosen, to look out over a city horizon at the gold and see anything and everything, for to vanish just as quickly as you in the shadows of another work week.
mafia birdhouse ep (mid aughts metalcore throwback whoaaa, underoath ll that remains turned up to 11 past 12 whoaa, very good, i dont want to water down with nostalgia as it also isnt my favorite genre, but you gotta recognize these dudes worked on these songs, and they are a great band on record, id see them if they pull through)
red pen death omen 2x single (dope, indie ish country folk)
dreamwave single (same as above feel like i heard it before)
solace in bloom / teen dating violence split (wow great stuff)
blockade demo (this band rips, one of mycurrent favs, lead spirit, full stride, spikepit, square one, hold my own, speedway, face the pain
god's computer singles (alt/emo nu metal with a prebubsicent vocal that induces discomfort and comes off a little cringe, whiny whispery ethreal almost like an ever present dependency that comes off as maybe naive, good musicians)
snow child single (ya i think i have a theory, this sounds like anime ova intro, and that explains the aesthetic in modern screamo/skramz which is also cross polinating with the burgeoning hsc scene heavy beat dow, so you're getting the metalcore fonts plus a chic anime miku shirt and like hookups rip offs, as well as early aughts fashioncoming back with jinco's, chain wallets, studded belts, puffy shoes, orange belt rather, neon, shirts that are slightly a little tight, what the older milennials are calling the mall goth/emo kid is back, osiris d3s and that etnies shoe, also in addition to anime ost/music video game soundtracks as well)
beaky sunday single (folk-punk?)
evil george washington ep (rock lobster band, what is that band. idk, this is actually kind of funny and enjoyable, thank you needed this)
my better half ep (nothing really too substantial in standing apart from the current crop of screamo bands in terms of the midwest vs.self catalyst variety, but i say that in no slight, this band is probably one of the best at that sound right now, and given enoguh time the personality and "uniqueness" e-ventually drips out of the maple tree)
the pastels new york dolls cover (alright alright)
evergreen trio 2x single (indie/emo 20102 band, pretty twinkle ala empire empire sdre mineral a place for owls you know you know)
ten speed bicycle / divider split
well said single
fireplay single
fine i guess lp (hearken back to an era, caregtrr but only an echo, projecting the feeling, the dream, but with the people right here in front of me; the midwest emo revival record of the decade thus far)
adam guzman single (local songwriter very good show in june got to check out with anxious hum, alt-rocky sweet spot not to poppy, good voice knows how to sing)
the rocking horse winner lp2 (evr record, very good moments sound like slowdive drawing from that shimmnery indie shoegaze era, the sundays etc., awesome stuff. from the minds of as friends rust, shai hulud, poision the well, pretty wild right? hxc kids know how to write songs man its awesome. the drumer keeps them from sounding like sdre, mineral rainer maria clone; again the hxc connect makes sense)
survey monkey ep (local indie, they have song like mineral, i like mineral so i like them, also good band doing a sound that isnt really happenning nowadays and if it is its dripping soaked to the bone and ivory in reverb, insecurity and pretense)
survey monkey single
that girlnextunit single
fly catcher single
footnotes singles (now on steaming ooo prob by some kid in their bedroom)

costanza / expiration date split (more screamo why why brain hurts)
cliffmoor single (off the lp i believe i gotta check this out also but too much screamo for me today)
ventana row (a swathe of genres into one, powerviolence, trap, emo/altshoegaze adjacent-core sound worlds into a soup that made me feel quite uncomfortable, good job i say make me feel something that isnt boredom im happy i checked it out)
don aman single (an interesting evolution of the 4th wave emorevival namely snowing style mixed with influences of breakcore, drum and bass, trap music; i thought its interesting and worth at least a listen to free the mind and feelings of a given thing or opinion)
supercorp ep and single (i would describe this as an evolution of the 2ndwave of emo or maybe early 3rd, slowcore type stuff with modern sensibilitiesmainly song structure as the pop formula intro verse chorus second verse chorus etc.)
halftimeshow single (another banger they put out)
voicemail single (never meant meme song, not bad)
anothe voicemail single (good songwriter thums up)

clifmoor lp (ultimate screamo evolution goooo, one of my favs of this yearthus far as well, want to do a review when im up to it, cool stuff, unique midwest 2nd wavey screamo thats not too punishing ith the metalcore if not at all rather sorry, good stuff)
sound creation station singles (local band keys are hammered out by my friend from suffolk gken, nice surprise, sounds like a jam band for like weddings and buisness parties and such, newest song sounds like africa by toto; good band nice to see him making tunes their playing out in mountauck music fest next week, mid may as of writing this timestamp, cool; glen is a sevant; incredibly talented and giftedin a good way where he wasn't a stranger to hard work, but knew how to weirld excalibur you know, just sort of awkward outside of playing the piano which around me, there seemed to be a pianoo in the vicinity usually; also reminds me of my friend patrick, more of a prodigy, not stuck up though, just quiet and to himself, he was cool too, i thought he didnt speak english, he just didnt want to talk to anyone, sorry patrick, hope your doing good as well, and then i forgot about jairo, who also was incredible musician or is rather, percussionist, vibraphone, he was so laidback, didnt care for school more about the music, got labeled a sort "bad student" alittle but he worked at being a musician practiced always just didnt take to pen and paper, hed be like, yo what about the music.)
car seat headrest single (pretty chill idk, didnt hate it, liked the vibe, its vibe music)
creek / overhang / summer of peril split (3 alt adjacent shoecore title fight drug church seaweed seam bands that sound like one band, sorrry for hate)
throw away lp (sounds australlian, think they're from sf. emocore i guess, the back half is where its at songs a little to long but i like it at the end of the day im not bummed)
service center ep (slowcore emo had to warm up to it, i guess taking a spill with that case of water and toilet paper coming through the front door has its merits)
the pastels lp4 (got some goo songs, not all bangers but good album, 7/10?)
talulah gosh single
close lobsters single
scarlet rae single

man is the bastard lp (i think a band is great if they're entertaining, quotations. not my words but as someone who has a narrow vision of what meaning is and life. which has many facets i realize as i grow up, things cant and wont be happy all the time and vice-versa. so why do i expect "good" music? man is the bastard i would call good music but not ina sense that makes you feel "good". its entertaining and satiates a part of my soul heart and what im feeling, whether thats my untapped aggrevation and creativity, i see things in my memory i didn see when i was there when listeining to this lp, or even the band as a whole; i thinjk thats ibnbteresting. i could also be pulling things out of my crack....pardon my french)

francis bebey (i feel like this dude pops up once a year in my per-view when i need it, reminder that people hear and expierence music in all different ways and melody, rhythm, sound its all perspective and outgrowth of your forest. rhythm and timbre as sacred worship, peace and unity. the creation of music as a conversation with your instrument. though i dislike the fact bandcamp and "algorhythmic" faceless suits push this sort of "world" music down journalists throats, than by extension ours via "influencers" cause we (i) am narcissistic and want to look educated, also reminds me of nintendo music, pokemon snap flute and mario sunshine and animal crossing, where timbre is a key element over melody or rather timbre coloration as melody i think that is a unique aspect to african music)

checked-out ep (whoa reminds me of shinobu summer vacation niicee. as i mentioned indie garage rock punk n"neatness" i like the direction from the more clean indie technical route most "emo"bands are growing towards like i mentioned before the macseal retirement prty counter-inuitive direction i love some bands in that style but it seems rather "narrow" as more and more bands go in that direction, i like this way more apples nd oranges or granny smith's for that matter)
hot mulligan single (ya its hot mulligan nothing too crazy sticking to what works and its good)
jail socks demo (cancelled band that acrobat unstable signed before the allegations of course and they took 2 hits with a different band that got cancelled after pressing the vinyl for the new record or split i forget, first time i really listened to them and, its pretty good if you like the sparring indie elbow to the nose im loosening the tie type basement sweat, i dont condone)

sostre ep
dazey single
mutant theory single'
elder jack single
tripper ep (baltimore hxc very well done)
the third bardo ep (late 60s "psychedalic rock n roll", sounds like rock of the time with like eastern stereotypical melodic phrasing, thats me only knowing culture and history at a superficial stereotypical "level" day of tomorrow is great song to skate to like a girl vid or something)
fable 7" (one of the earliest bands/records i know of to do the screamo cross metallic hardcore sound, kids who love both heroin, pg.99, orchid saetia and earth crisis strife )

anomalist ep
silent spring demo
captain sunshine 2x single
bells of lp (late 80s early 90s dc indie band that played with some rev summer bands, grey matter etc., 11th hour, carpe diem, i can see how at least bells of wouldn't fit into the post-homuous category of "emo" though they sound in the vein of beefeater? aska any reddit head and the point beefeater to the emo corner of the room the vague hardcore punk room where your clothes and how you talk and "act" define you.)
thinkingdayrally lp (i mean im not gonna say what is and isnt emo anymore, cause today's debate well i guess always, its about "community" ethos more than "sound", so if by the metrich, these band members were involved in the "scene" i guess they're "emo" "hardcore kids", needless to say, great songs and band, american football-esque or appleseed cast more melancholy and sad, i like it)

body shirt ep (aussie skramz metal core, another one of my favs in this style, though the riff on one song sounds oddly familiar cant put mer finger on it, the sum 41 riff is hilarious so i guess they dont care about biting, if we're looking for originality in heavy downtuned chug land, only one way to ride a horse. or not idk. practicality is the wird)

reservoir / bicycle ride split (some of your twinkle sdre still life e!e! sound mineral cave here, great stuff)
abel is dying lp (i guess this is deathmetal, there is hardcore elements in it particularly the first few tracks nyhc type groove so i guess deathcore? genre is bizarre man, band is great, sounds more like a deathmetal band to me though, classical music through contemporary "isms", i guess this is where classical music now or our version of classical music like bach back in the day would be doing this if he had like a flying v and marshall half-stack idk im no good with equipment, bethooven would of been deaf much earlier in life poor guy)
logs lp (whoa emocore insanity)
texas instruments / baitfish/ battle royale/regret, the informer kansas city 4 way split (a little taste of thee facets of emo at the time iguess , obviously more was hapenning sonically but you got your emorevival twinkle midwest capn jazz braid hey mercedes hybrid / sasscore/ screamo or skramz found more in the euro variety like suis la lune daitro raein more soaring sections and driving moving parts cool split of the early a2010s )

l'invention de morel 7" (i think its a 7" hha idk it was like little less than 15 on youtube idk early 90s post-hardcore emo quicksand fugazi type with some like i guess bob tilton cuz tht what i was listening to a lot of lately, of theat 1st wave quotation marks groove sound this band is one of the tighter acts if ot the most, i mean boys life is insane too but this band is more liberal with the meter and feel shifts, interesting band id get this )
cairo capone ep
yubiori lp
han-shan 7" (awesome band i believe this is their only oficial release, manilla envelope core i guess. kinda yot-esque some grind mettalic hardcore in their, the fugazi/quicksand groove, grungy harmonies and brass, cool 7" cool band, apparantly got a repress 2024 maybe for 30th anniversary? well done)
withrawn lp1 (deathmetal tinged hardcore euro band i believe uk late 90s, not a fast record but heavy in terms of i guess downcast unbroken west coast mettalic hardcore maybe strife or snapcase, edge band, not my thing but it heavy good)
jet black s/t 7" (if you like the carbomb chris hodge heroin vocal shrill 2 step emo-core this is for you, sassy early aughts "screamo", oneof my favs i guess, bay-area punk sound reminds me of pyre))
clinic s/t (comp of 4 early eps/demos, cool band i like the weird aggro indie )
-skinhead lp(i think is a very well done record, love the more twinkle guitar decoration over just 2 step picking up change skank beat with gruffing a tangible soulful melody somehow that reminds me im never alone, or too kill myself, or looking fondly at my broken nose when i was 16, or for my partner to let me in and to dry her tears on the mattress, or that my dog is my best friend or that life is really ugly and how you associate and perceive thingss such as pain is just a feeling and the curse is how we color the pages, the rhythm section makes it all work, not over playing overbearing just rolling the road for the car to bounce off of to the catchiness airwaves of the stereo and my dad screaming about traffic, mom being in the sun too long has him hallucinating and passing through the neighborhood or seeing some random building or store sets off the memory train nnostalgia, great record not for me, wouldn't call it oi though but i dont know oi, very drug church and early 2010s poppunk guitar shimmer like neck deep type cool stuff though i say its up there, interesting feeling, again like drug church i
nihiliosaurus lp (indie awesome aggro rock, good songs some eh eh i mean i think they need more time and they be gooood, they are gooood though solid songwriting)

trsh 2x single
thoughts on bowling( the first ep is very gami gang hot mulligan kayak jones which makes sense i believe they tru midwest arkansas idk if that is midwest according to wikipedia...no. also very mom jeans puppy love esque midwest emo to the younger generation starts with mom jeans title fight and modern baseball hot mulligan all those early aughts bands, saw someone refer to like 2nd wave capn jazz braid gauge grain idk sidekick kato as "old school emo" genre isngenerational every changing my wrists hur the bands going through a lot of turmoil with members wanting to in one direction than the other and sudden tik tok popularity support tour offers or whatever i think they're headlining the dubbed catalina winemixer tour, i just hope they still friends forget the band even thugh cavity is a great song, i wante to see where they go creativelyaa)
also crazy to see how title fight is so influential especially with the starting line coming back with this record, plus t swift also but ya know, rad)
bethany home laughing matter split lp
clay lake discog (sports and glocca morra awesome modern midwest emo prob my fav)
richie suckerman ep (recorded 4 years ago in 2021, polish indie-emo porch pirate alley chasing music, speeding down a cul-de sac with baskin robbins or carvel idk, cold stone)
pure moods demo (whoa fast and a misfits cover thrashed out i see what they did its a spoof of a chill soft ambient kenny enya comp....dope )

some things i found interesting here; i think it parallels our punk circles as well as got me thinking why I "do this" and "make music".
-"entertainment" "advertisements" vs. "news" "gossips" "rumors" "allegations" (evolution of "industry journalism")
-feeling a "responsibility" to "report" "topics" sexual harrasments, domestic violence, acts of bigotry, rape, "uncalled for violence" the evils of humanity standing against them before it inevitably gets mussed-up in the hands of big corpo newsprint
-benefits of being "outside the industry" in "finding truth"; (which i find perplexing considering in punk/hxc/post-hxc/emo micro genre land the majority aren't really fans of rando jimmy lens-cap "documenting" your live set in Mankato.)
-the need to "work towards" inclusivity, diversity while seemingly hypocritically intentionally organizing a panel on roger bagley/jason jesse/cancelled villan etc. without cancelled villan being in the room to "actually work toward change" ie some form of understanding. seemingly "for the better".
-"blaming" readers/community for not having interest in "progressive ideology/politics" cynic take -->rather having "low viewership" on "articles". maybe im a ill-informed writer. or just ill hehe.
-caring what "outsiders" "the norms" think of scene and the "need to define whats ours" before "they define us" when who is going to dig into the culture but "us". "normies" are going to mainstream "pitchfork needledrop" to be fed "the correct take right opinion".
-the "mainstream" growth of our subcultures and interest being more invested in "news" "rumors" rather than "genuine content" for express purpose of "scene cred".
-the icky feeling of talking about things more than doing things "diy"
-ultimately getting "news" from degenerate humble message boards for more "scholarly work"
-the "truth" is the nameless mosh hero stranger who picks you up in the pit, catches stage-dives, "yo great set." salary shackle just wanna mosh forever warrior.
its hard to "discuss" these topics without the cringe--->i might as well be the pic next to the word
though with all due respect to all parties, creatives, people no shade judgement shame beef wishing all the best
...this is "news"?
calling myself out i guess it is, and im not saying with certainty anybody is calling this news either. just assumptions because i can't give a concrete definition of what is "news" "newsworthy"
reporting "the truth" if i had the eye of sauron; and it seems like we can't agree on a "truth" either.
even with "the facts". so i respectively share my opinions on "meaningless music". try to at least. best for me can't say for anyone else.
i have no interest in "airing out dirty laundry" make a cool record plz.
i ramble on same points...
I initially thought that in this panel they were reffering to the sort of "the scene needs me..." batman credo in a general sense. like "the scene needs my band" "the scene needs my zine" which in my view is dangerous thinking.
But now i see they are reffering more to the need of actively pulling out the weeds and burning the roots of the 2nd point mentioned above so to hopefully not spoil the garden; which I questionabley tend to deem "allegations" "none of my business" depending on how much I know said people; which 9/10 times is soley through their music/art/work.
mentioning thrasher mag, which began primarliy as a vechile of advertising/pushing independent trucks co. | HaC zine to have a place for "non-major" bands to be reviewed | over time is afforded oppurtunities and takes this sort of inspiration lighthouse beacon role in tending the garden; safely docking and sinking ships intentionally or otherwise
a sect of people feel unrepresented and start their own thing. so the cycle goes.
this is obviously way more serious; not like a "you never listen to my demos" thing putting it very lightly.
personally when allegations surface.. lets go recently as a clearer example; rila of febuary accused ben of kind of like spitting of grooming and manipulating from april 2024 to march 2025 sharing a google doc of screenshots of messages, photos and recordings; stating that ben made multiple advances such as explaining what a cam girl is and that rila could be one as well as questionable as well as dangerous
instances at ben's home studio fits of rage from ben wtih KOLS leaving before really getting anything recorded. both bands were slated to play best friends forever fest KOLS got kicked from the fest and the heavy accusation broke up KOLS, encouraged others to speak out about ben who apparantly has a over 2 decade history in sexual allegations, and a strange apology from ben with the promise of never making any art again as a form of peace; as well as a promise to speak his truth with evidence.
in these recent events; the only knowledge i have about them besides what was posted is soley through their music. don't know rila, ben nor the bands on any personal level.
i feel that i can't add anything of "note" or "importance" therefore anything i say i personally feel doesn't constructively help at all.
maybe just in this specific situtation. i could organize some sort of article or essay on history of misogny, sexual assault, harrasment, grooming in the scene possibley connecting with survivors people sharing expierances consentually, how they are then and now how they soldier on, resources, what works for certain hopefully bring forth and outpouring of empathy where people who feel alone eases that at least little.
mabe organizing some sort of comp with bands, awareness proceeds going to an organization or charity who directly aids people; education on these topics.
this is where i sort of get in my feelings because i spent nearly my whole day writing this putting it together and its jsut going to sit here for a pair of eyes to glaze over and die.
i could be literally doing anything else, but this feeling i've encountered much too often and it doesnt go away when i do "literally anything else".
because for me there is hope here, in words, zines, in art. and hope is hard to see when you are forced to "swallow reality"
art changes things, i have to work on believing
such is prayer
such is life.
and it starts from a prayer.
if i told you what i pray for you have to choose to believe.
so choose, as i will.
subconsiously there probably is a hell-forged demon tyrant puppeting my fingers and thoughts whispering my own.
one light many directions
see how i make things about me
i like blowing things up
thank you for you ;)
